This run is already being discused on the RatPack forum so I thought it is time to bring it over here.
This run would start in Mesa and end in Scottsdale. We would take the I 60 to Salt River Canyon you can see by the pic it is beautiflull up there. My Dad owns a horse ranch up there in Linden 10 miniutes form Show Low(not sure how to spell that) My dad will take us all on a SHORT horseback riding adventure through the woods up there. Then we will continue on around in a big circle going the Payson route back to phoenix. There are some great places to eat up there. (I suggest Chilli's so there is a large veriety of food for everyone including vegitarians )
There is about 30 min. of driving before Payson that there will still be a little snow on the ground. No you will not need chains. The snow will only be in the woods. but it makes that part of the run quite pritty.
From Payson back to phoenix is a fun drive through the mountain preserves.
It is 6 hours round trip with no stoping so it will be a full day. If we start at 9 or so in the morning we will be riding horse at about noon. Then we will be eating in Payson around 4. Should hit the last stretch of the run around sunset. Hopfully the weather will permit some good pictures.
Any Sunday in march will be good. I would like to do it on the 7th or the 28th.
What do you think?
