North Rim Run?
Anyone up for a run to the North Rim during the Labor Day weekend? Yeah... it's a long way for a day trip so make sure you consider that. I'd love to stay overnight but I have other committments and can't do that.
My plans are to leave early... departing around 6 AM-ish on Sunday from the Waffle House on I-17 (Bell Road exit I think). Anyone want to join me?

Sounds fun Gerry!
My parents are due to arrive in town early Sept. If they're not here, then I'll tag along with ya!
I'm headed up to Flagstaff for some mountian biking on Saturday. I've never riden at 7,000' before, so it should prove to be interesting...

It'll be a long day for you too.

From Las Vegas:
Take I-15 north to Utah exit 16 to Hurricane. From Hurricane take Highway 389/59 to Fredonia. From Fredonia take Highway 89A to Jacob Lake. Take Highway 67 to the Lodge. Approximately 5 hours 30 mins. / 266 miles.
The beauty of the North Rim is that only about 10% of Canyon visitors go there. That guarantees less people and a great trip.
Hope to see you there!

Agro, I drove to the Canyon from Vegas and back in a day. Wasn't too terribly bad. A lot of fun really.
I'd love to but am driving to Cali that way for some work. Snap some photos if you can!

Gerry, How long do you expect to stay up north? What time do you estimate to return?
BTW, the I-17 & Bell location is a great place to start from. Located far enough to the north that it's common for most people, where they don't have to do much back travelling.

I have no real timetable. My daughter will need me around 7 pm so my only plan is to... plan accordingly. I plan to pretty much beat feet up there maintaining around the speedlimit plus 5-10 depending on traffic. Then, go on in, take a few photos, admire the scenery, maybe have a bite to eat and then head back.
You still up for it DMC? Anyone else?
