Wide Page Today?

I figured after the new siggy rule went into effect this would mostly stop but on many threads today (pictureless threads) I am having to swing way way right, further than I ever had to before, to read the posts. It's not all threads just some. Anybody know what's up?

Can you provide links to the threads where you are seeing this?

Thanks!

Mark

At work I am on an older square 17" monitor so it does it worse but not usually this bad If there are any big pics in the threads I am not seeing them.

Here are 2 that I remember right off the bat:

There are numerous threads that have fallen victim to this. Anyone who had their sig pic reduced to a URL, and that URL is of an extraordinary length or had several small pics without spaces that are now essentially one huge URL are causing the page width to be blown apart.

If any older threads fall victim to this, and the user in question has not logged in to the site in some time, let us know. We can edit their signature to remove the offending URL code and therefore fix the problem.

Obviously, for more frequent visitors, we wouldn't want to do that, as they may not have a record of the URL(s) to the image(s) they wanted for their signature!

It would be nice if you could drop them a PM to see if they would rectify it though because this situation is much worse than the oversize siggys ever were

& you thought the new site siggy process was going to make your job easier

Oh, good idea. Copy and paste the errant URLs into a PM, and clear the signature of them altogether. Sure, I can do that - just let me know when you see a "bad" one and I'll try to take care of it.

Hey - it's only been 24 hours! This will be a self-correcting issue in time.

Fixed - one of the users who had posted in that thread had the old image URLs in their signature. I removed them from the signature and PMed the user with the URLs.

This thread has a problem too. I have a 20 inch monitor and I still have to scroll to read it.

monitor size dosn't really have much to do with size of webpages. it comes back to resolution, you could have an apple 30" cinema display, but if the resolution is set to 640x480, your not going to see anymore then a 17" monitor set at the same resolution

I can't argue that point Jeremy. But now you'll have to explain to me why I would run a 1680X1050 display at 640x480? (Age related vision disorders notwithstanding). Now, you stretch that same web page across a 20 inch display at the correct resolution and I guarantee you'll see more.

Fixed. There were actually two people in that thread with extra-wide signatures caused by the old image links.

The width that the thread has now is caused by actual images that people have put in there. Because of that, it's still wider than usual, but better than before.
