firefox and nam

Hey,

I was wondering if you ever got reports on firefox crashing when coming to NAM. ON both my computers, when I use firefox, it would randomly crash at times. Really seems to be random. I'm thinking it is one of my extensions or something because I don't have too much trouble at other places.

anyways, please give me any suggestions to help get rid of this problem.

I use firefox from time to time, never had any crashing issues. Not sure what the issue could be

I have been using Firefox exclusively for over a year - no problems on NAM. Maybe it would be more helpful for you to list your extensions? Then, others without problems can tell you which extensions we have in common with you and begin ruling them out one by one....

I've been using FF (v. 1.0.6) and no problems on NAM. Make sure you're updated to the latest. I'd hold off on the beta 1.5 though.

I've been using Firefox for a while, and the only website that regularly crashes it is http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/ when I go there to check baseball scores... never any crashing problems with NAM.

firefox-related ponderance

I find that the mouse-over topic previews are truncated to one line on FF, where you get a paragraph using IE. Why? Seems stable, otherwise..

I use Firefox as the primary browser when visiting the site, modifying it, and deploying new features on the site. I haven't had any problems specifically related to NAM but sometimes when visiting other sites Firefox will become unresponsive or stop allowing text to be entered in fields. I run with essentially a plain vanilla version of Firefox and still haven't been able to see a pattern when it locks up.

I don't know what's going on, but it gets really annoying.

Here are the extensions I'm running, maybe someone wants to install them as well and see if they get problems, they are good extensions:

ieview : adds open in ie to context menu ( good for ie required links)

refspoof: for site spoofing

show image: when image doesn't load, reload the image w/o reloading the whole page

flashblock: turns flashes into play button that you can choose to run or not.

I usually get the crashes when I'm multitabbing. When i visit NAM I usually tab the individual forums i like to visit, then tab the threads within those forums. This means I often run about 7 tabs when I come on NAM. The problems seems to occur most often while I am multitabbing.

I use ieview. I also use tabs, a lot of them. Must be something else. How'd the upgrade go?

well, the other computer I don't use as much, but my normal computer has been running the updated version for a long time. however, I'm still getting the freezes.

Sometimes, there's an error message that says it must close, but most of the time, my browser just locks up. It nevers happens anywhere besides NAM. I have no idea what's going on

I'm going to assume you have Windows.. If you do, you make sure that all your Service Packs are updated and your patches...

XP , Service Pack 2
2K , Service Pack 4

As far as Firefox, did you upgrade or re-install from scratch....

1. Uninstall old firefox
2. Reboot PC
3. Install new firefox
4. Reboot PC for the hell of it

Firefox is my only browser, and no problems w/ NAM... running 1.06 still...

as an aside to this thread...

does anyone know why I can't see embedded photos in the posts? I'm also using Firefox (latest version). I can view attachments but nothing comes up when the images are part of the reply. IE, on the other hand, works but I'm not a fan of using this browser. suggestions?

Sounds like you've got images from NAM blocked. I forget the setting's exact location, but check your FF options & see..

Go to Tools>Options. Select WebFeatures Icon on the left. Make sure "load images" is checked and "for originating web sites only" is uncheked. LMK if that works.

tried the only original site thing, and i will completely reinstall with 1.07. I will report back if there are problems still.

what really pisses me off is that it seems to always die on me when I'm trying to get to this thread.

anyways, thanks for the suggestions, i'll cross my fingers.

I have been running Firefox 1.5 beta 1 for several days without a single problem.
