I can assure you that the Rating System will return and that it is a priority. While it has not been the number 1 thing I've been working on lately (The 2005 MINIs on the Dragon has along with backend server issues) I have been making some progress. Keep in mind that I'm the only person that does actual code development on the site so it takes me a while to get a new feature out given all the other things that take time to manage on the site. That said rest assured that the system will be back and it will be even better and more useful than before.

I do hope it returns. I have some issues with a certain dealer that I would love to share with others and MINI.

How is the rating system going Mark??????????? I see another post today where perhaps the rating might have saved this person a misserable buying experience. Would be nice to have it sectionalized as well. A spot for Sales and a spot for service. Is it really coming back or has the long legal arm of bmw/mini reared it' s ugly head again????
Thanks
RAT

Its getting some attention. Between work on the Dragon and Spring Break for everyone in my house except for myself I haven't had time for full attention but I hope to be able to make some progress this week. As soon as its ready to go I'll get it relaunched.

Hi Mark,

Yes, I'm throwing rocks again. Come on and get the Dealer Rating System up and running. No more excuses, just do it! :-0

Hey Mark!

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we ever gonna be there? While you balance a hundred other top priorities could you make this your top top priority?

This is no slam on anybody. Everyone who's asking for this is just recognizing the big time value it provides the MINI community. They're exactly right. I want it too. And, I want it yesterday. But, in my day job, I've often found myself in the spot you're in now.

Hallmark moment in 3-2-1...

Let me just say that we also recognize the exceptional contribution you're making to our deal. I remember when I found MCO. That was a good day. And I remember when NAM was born. And watching (from the sidelines) as it has grown has been impressive to say the least. Thanks a ton for what you're doing. Who knows where we'd be w/o you, your team of moderators and the others who contribute to this site. Aside from supporting the sponsors, the use of this site is free to me. The value I receive is tremendous. Keep up the good work
Now, get back to work and give us what we want! Or we'll just go do it better ourselves... uhhhh... Can I just say thanks again and leave it at that.

Thanks for the continuing reminders. I have been working on it but given that the Dragon is quickly approaching I've also had to spend time on that (along with a hundred other site related issues that seem to keep popping up). Unless a lot of things unravel this coming week I'll be working on the rating system.

Now back to my 101 things I gotta do list....

The update is that I have to rebuild the system from the ground up in order to integrate it into the site . That said as I rebuild it I'm going to include some new features to improve its use. Thanks for your patience while I get a couple of other tasks out of the way before I can get the ratings migrated.

Be nice...

As someone whose MCS just went into production yesterday (and you KNOW how great that feels!), I don't at this point know much about MINI's, compared to the rest of y'all. I'm proud to say that about 85% of what I know, though, I learned at NAM. You're all wonderful, and I thank you for the knowledge you so readily share.

I do, however, know a LOT about web design. That's what I do for a living.

I want to be as gentle as possible (remember, I feel as though I owe all of you a debt of gratitude for your posts)... but please be nice to Mark! I read way to many "demands" for features and not nearly enough "Thanks, dude. You've got a rockin' site here!"

For all of the value I get from this site, I haven't yet had to pay a nickel. It's probably the same for most of you. As a newbie with no local dealer, of course I'd love access to a dealer ratings system, every bit as much as the rest of you... but as a web designer/developer, I know there's a lot more involved in developing that properly than most folks realize.

Please keep up the intensity. Just remember to thank Mark -- even before he's met your every site fantasy.

Small cars. Big hearts.

If this is such a big deal

(which I believe it is due to the fact <I want to purchase a MCS NOW and am alittle worried about a local shop>, others have posted issues)...
**Isn't there anyone else out "here" that can help with the code???**

That excludes me sorry, "code? what code?"
Spoken like a true Mechanical Designer...
Hey, if you need solid models, blue prints, FEA, machine shop time I could be of assistence.
But code..I'd be as usefull as a bag O' bricks at a Dell convention.

Dealer Ratings...?

Hi Mark,

Yes, it's me again
Mark, just be open to the members about the Dealer Rating System. It has been far too long and too many promises about this feature on NAM. Is there ever going to be such a system on this site again? If it's too big of a thing re-writing the old system and code, why not just start a new rating system? Why not ask the members what they think? Think about it.

Thanks

Charles

Dealer Ratings...?
Posted: 06-15-2004, 10:04 PM OmToast Am I just missing them? I'm sorry... I know the answer is probably right in front of my face, but the new look has me all off-kilter, if you know what I mean. Almost like I don't know where to look... my surroundings are unfamiliar.... I can't find my way....

Please help?

The dealer rating system in order to integrate it into vBulletin requires a large amount of work. I have not had the time to do this (other site-related work, maintenance, etc.) and now that there is yet another version of vBulletin that I have to upgrade the site to any attempts to integrate it will be further delayed. At this point it will require all new code and given the multitude of other tasks to keep the site up and operational I don't expect that this will be developed quickly. As I'm the only person that codes on things related to the site I have yet to identify a cost effective alternative to doing the work myself. If anyone knows of a reasonably priced developer familiar with develop modules for vBulletin please send them my way.
