WOW, what a coincidence...I was just setting here wishing I had a picture of "Monet Wheatstacks" when suddenly it appears at the bottom of your post.

Must have been the Nabisco Wheatstacks I had for breakfast that made me think of this.

Great, now for those of us that don't know how...how?! Are you reffering to the little icon with the mountains on it? If i click that it want's a URL of an image. This is not uploading an atachment. Please be a little more specific for those of us technologically challenged.

When you are posting something...or if you edit something you have already posted, go down until you see "manage attachments". Click on it and up will come "browse". Click browse and you will be able to search your hard drive for whatever you want to upload. Select your picture and the picture name will appear in the browse window. Click "upload" and it will upload the picture to your post as a thumbnail. When you click the thumbnail the picture will get bigger.

If the picture is larger than 800X600 pixels you will get a message that says "sorry, no can do, picture to big". If this happens use the edit function to resize your picture to 800X600 and try again.

I attached a thumbnail of an unknown MINI, picture taken by my wife on 9-17-03 near Little Rock, Arkansas. It had a Roadshow driveout tag.

Good luck.....

I am almost computer illiterate but posting a picture this way seems waaay easier than uploading to a gallery and then transferring the picture to the post.

rg,

the reason you get a URL is because one way or the other, your picture has to be hosted on the internet for it to show up.

What "uploading an attachment" does is upload you picture to the NAM server. The NAM server then hosts your picture. That's why you see a URL.

I just tried using this handy feature two times and got the same result both times.

2,

How long until your post count matches the address?

Just wanted to point out what I believe is a flaw in the "manage attachments". You can post a picture of - 800X600 but you can't post a picture of - 600X800, what's the difference?
Charles
I have a PM from Mark on this post, will share it with everyone.
Charles

"I looked into this further and the issue with the image is that, while
we do allow a maximum of 800 x 600, the image is 600 x 619. In effect
if you attempt to exceed the dimensions either in width or height it
will fail. This is also the same reason that a 600x800 image will fail
to upload.
In the case of the site the main reason we have a constraint on the
image dimensions is so that the width, when displayed, doesn't create
extremely wide pages.
Hope this helps. Have a good weekend!
Best regards,
Mark"
