Quote Question

Is anyone else seeing a post being quoted by someone else as:

>>yak, yak, blah blah!
>>
>>yup.
>>yak, yak!
>>
>>BJ

I added the "yak, yak" part, my main question is about the ">&gt" stuff

We know about it. It's a little hiccup from the translation.

Thanks David!

One more question while I've got you, any chance we could see individual member’s gallery pages with a thumbnail capability? Would keep bandwidth down, I’d think, while still giving folks the ability to view a pic before loading the larger one.

Individual gallery space is already on the To Do List.

We want to see that too. The old galleries were a pain to use and were never really designed/intended to handle that amount of picture uploads.

Most definitely seeing those all over the place. Either they're quotes from previous posts (before the conversion), and future posts won't have that issue, or it's a translation problem when the threads are displayed and have nothing to do with the migration, just a config setting in the new software. At least, that'd be my guess; I really have no clue how the new software works, just a swag.

Here is a test

Edit Appears to be a preconversion issue, as the test was perfect

It seems to happen on posts where the text was quoted using the '>' character instead of html tags. I've checked on a thread where I used html tags in the old format and the quotes came through just fine.

If you see these just click on the "report this post" warning triangle (upper right on each post). This will notify us of the post and we can go in and fix it by hand. Thanks

Having noticed the glitches in the quote and in the ampersand (for example), I was waiting to see if others mentioned it. So it isn't some setting that I need to change to get it to display properly? Good. Usually it is something I don't know how to do.
But I do have a question. Whenever I have posted a reply with a quote, I have just hit the "reply with quote" button. That is what I did this time. I will see if it puts it in a box like smokey4 has, or not. The question is, down at the bottom of my page, it lists what I have on and off. I do not know what vB code is. I can figure out what smilies are:smile: and [img] is, I guess, to post images? But my html code is off, and I don't know anything about it. Should it be on? I obviously have no knowledge of making web sites, just surfing them.
Thanks,
John L
Oh, yeah. Mark, what posts do you want us to notify you to fix? There are over 300,000 of them. Won't many of those have these glitches?
