Don't know what is going at NAM but lately it's taking 20 - 30 seconds to get a page to load and even longer if the Pulse is refreshing its-self. I'm on a broadband connection running faster than 1.5 kbs so what's up with the long page load times? Most web sites I go to load pages in 2 - 4 seconds at the most. Can't imagine what someone on a dial-up connection is going through. Probably takes minutes to load page on NAM. Could the number of members on line be slowing the site down the number of jpgs (size?) or gifs with links to other-web sites? Maybe reducing the number of post per page would help. How about some input from members with dial-up connections.

I should have said the site seems to slow down sometimes for no reason. The page will start to load and just hang there for way too long. This doesn't happen all the time it just comes and goes? In the last week or so it has been bad -for me anyway. But I agree with you it hasn't been too bad tonight but around noon today it was a pain in my butt. Just got around to posting something about it.

With over 10,000 registered users, you should see the bandwidth this site consumes per month, it's incredible. I know Marks been working on a new hosting solution to alleviate things, but it's a long process. I agree it could be faster, but then again, you need to compare a large enterprise type website against NAM, for a true apples to apples comparison, and then see which of those two has more funds to keep it running!

If you are using windows do this:

Start | Run
enter "command.com" and hit OK
In the new window type "ping https://www.northamericanmotoring.com"
and then type "traceroute https://www.northamericanmotoring.com"

The results should indicate if there is a problem on the path between you and the server. If you post them here I'll give you my opinion.

I run a Macintosh iMac with OSX 10.3. It has a activity monitor that shows all the links loaded by a page their size and if they loaded. In placing this post it took about 20 seconds to load the Edit post page. Below is a sample of what the activity window looks like, two of the links below timed out and didn't load. I only posted part of the listing. There were 60 loaded links with 2 errors.
