I keep getting error pages when I try to surf around here and then, just now, I tried to post a response and was taken to hypocrites.com--and they knew my name! It said "welcome OmToast" at the top of the page!

I mean... I know I'm hypocritical.... but nobody else is supposed to!!!

Eegad... it's probably my computer.

Did a virus scan (software is up to date) and run SpyBot daily...

 

I've noticed the speed of the site has been slow ever since the galleries came back up, and other than the 1st page of Member MINIs I can't get the galleries to work!

 

I've also noticed that the site seems to have slowed down dramatically over the last month, although it's been the most noticeable over the last week...

Me too, but I haven't been taken to hypocrites.com! That almost sounds like a hackjob to me, especially if the other site displayed your username!

 

I'm unsure at this time what is causing slowdowns you may be seeing. At times the site feels pretty snappy over my DSL connection but other times it is slow. I've looked at server loading and it doesn't appear to be unusally high. That said I am investigating to see if there may be bottlenecks on the server that can be tuned away.

As for the gallery, the gallery keeps its information in files on the filesystem. Based on the size of the galleries at this point pulling these files, parsing them, and displaying the pages is a slow, time consuming process. Add a few people doing that at the same time and it loads the server. Given this I will be implementing a new gallery system that keeps its information in a database rather in files. Hopefully this will resolve a few of the headaches associated with the current gallery system.

I'll update everyone here if I find some areas which can be tuned to improve the performance of the site.

DITTO...since my sig pics keep dissapearing from the forums i was trying to upload another one and the galleries....were....crawling!!

My complaint is that the type is so small, it makes reading posts a chore.
