new technique for displaying ad content - pros and cons
new technique for displaying ad content - pros and cons
I was just startled and mildly annoyed to find an ad presented over the content I was looking for which not only obscured that content, but also required me to find and click the Close button in order to continue.
I do hope that approach is lucrative, as it is certainly annoying - I wouldn't want to think my tolerance had no positive side effects.
Does that type of ad presentation command a premium on the site, as it should?

It's been discussed recently (a few threads down I think, if you take a look) that there are a few ads that are not the proper size for the box that they are assigned to, and this leads to them bleeding over into the forum. I know that IB was looking into the issue and that was the last I've heard about it. Maybe they can follow up with us here and let us know what's going on. I don't see them because I have ads blocked but I can understand how it would be annoying!
I noted that too, at the time.
This was something quite different - the equivalent of a pop-up.
The ad was for a cruise line, and the displayed image contained a "Close" button which worked.
The Ad was 3-4" across and about 2" high, and appeared as an overlay to the screen.
Next time it happens I'll scrape the page source and identify the service which presented the Ad.
Cheers,
Charlie
