Maybe this has been mentioned before, don' t know and maybe it's because I'm getting old but can't you please increase the font size in the forums?! Posts are very hard to read on a typical 14 inch notebook screen. Thanks.

The short answer is yes this has been requested before and is one of the many reasons I'm working on a new site design. In the meantime what browser are you using? Depending on the browser I can likely provide some information on how to increase the font size in your browser preferences. Thanks!

I am glad I am NOT the only one to have a problem with the font size. Please don't be offended but... this is terrible. I have to lean in to see this site and I am on a desktop PC. I do not have to do this with ANY of the many sites I post on. And NO I do not need bifocals.

change the resolution on your display- a lower resolution will result in larger fonts etc. If you change to an 800x600 resolution it will be bigger. Otherwise you probably have a poor quality display.
I have had no problems on either my 14 inch iBook or my 15 inch LCD G4 desktop -and I wear corrective lenses

I'm using a 12.1" Powerbook and I am not having a problem with the font size. It is definitely smaller (I used to use a 14" Compaq laptop) but is very tolerable. i can increase the size of the text if I need to though.

Ditto. This does NOT work (IE 6.0 / Windows 2000 or XP). I am using XP.

And sorry, I don't want to make modifications to my screen resolution to access one website. I am happy with the current setting for 99.99 percent of my other applications. Otherwise I really enjoy the site.

I don't blame you on not wanting to change resolution to access the site. This is a complaint about the site that I've been working to resolve for more than six months now...I'm working on the migration now which, when released, should be a lot easier on the eyes. I'm ready for it myself since with all the time I spend on the site my eyes definitely get fatigued. Thanks for your patience while I keep hammering away on site improvements.

As for using the View->Text Size menu option...I'm unsure why this isn't working on IE/Windows. I'm able to change text size using Mozilla (on both Apple and Windows platforms) as well as IE on the Mac. That said I can not get the text size to change when using IE under Windows.

Here's how to solve the problem with small fonts in IE 6.

It's due to the fact this site uses something called Cascading Style Sheets. To disable font specifications in Cascading Style Sheets, got to TOOLS | INTERNET OPTIONS... Then find the butten in the lower right hand corner called ACCESSIBILITY. Click it and check the third check box from the top labeled "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages". I've used this trick a few times in the past where my eyes became so tired I couldn't read anymore.

dominicminicoopers, you're a web designer's nightmare disabling CSS and all. I go through such pains with my CSS to control how everything looks

Do I detect a common thread in this thread.

It appears that thoseof us who are using Mac laptops are not having a vision problem.

Those using 'Wind-doze' are not seeing clearly.

Hummmmmmm.......

What does it all mean?

Could it be that us Mac Users, see the world more 'clearly?'

I am in marketing and would not be surprised to find a very large percentage of MINI/Mac/iPod owners/lovers together in these products.

There is a lot of shared characteristics in play here.

Think different,

Ok Mac people. If you're using OS X and Safari or IE, to quickly bump the size of the text press Command (Apple) and the (+) key. To shrink the text back down press Command and (-) together. I use this all the time on sites with small text. It changes the type size on the site until you change it back or quit the program.

Happy reading with larger text. : )

Just to put a little BUMP in the road, I'm using both a PC desktop and a Sony VAIO laptop and have no issues. Actually I also view the site on my little TMobile Color Sidekick which is like 320x240! People are correct that modifying the View Text size in IE has no effect. The fact he uses CSS isn't the problem IMO. Visit my site at http://www.littleMINI.us and try the View Text size or go to http://www.mossMINI.com and you'll find that it works there as well. Both of these sites use CSS to specify the fonts and sizes being used.

I find the text easy to read, and I think it highly depends on the screen resolution of your laptop. My Sony laptop runs at around 1400x1200 I believe and it's still very clear while my desktop is around 1280x960. The higher the resolution the smaller the fonts.

Mark whatever site changes you're making I hope you continue to give alternate methods of viewing/posting that don't require Javascript. I use mobile devices to post to this site which are often not technically sophisticated, i.e. support Javascript. In fact, I can't even view Yahoo Mail because the stupid ads won't show!

No need to fire up the Mac/PeeCee battle again. Besides, as a Mac user I acknowledge that PeeCees are faster and cheaper, but we all know that the MINI isn't the fastest or the least expensive car out there either

Thanks for the great tip. I was happy with the smaller font size but this geezer font is definitely easier reading. Thanks....
