As you design the new site, I'd suggest a couple of changes in the dealer rating system.

I would track separate ratings for car purchasing experience and car servicing experience. I bought in late August and haven't yet rated the dealer; I've been waiting to go for my first service. Separate ratings could encourage more timely responses and also more valuable information for both the NAM members and dealers.

Second, I would clean the old ratings. In looking over the PA dealer ratings, I noticed that Otto's was pulled down because of a few bad ratings that came in before they even openned the showroom or began selling cars. The recent ratings have been really high. Either eliminating old ratings or having multiple averages--since inception and last 12 months--could correct for these situations. It would also show which dealers are improving their performance.

I've actually already written an improved version of the Dealer Rating System for the new site which incorporates your suggestions as well as some additional improvements (like zero stars). I will also be providing a some other rating systems for products, and am also considering vendors. More info to come as I dig out from the holidays and can start focusing development effort in the new year. Thanks for the continued feedback!
