Keep all talk of Subaru's off this board, if you have one, BFD. If you traded
your MINI for one then good for you but I don't care, if I want to read about
ugly lame Japanese cars I'll go to Edmunds.

Hm...

I don't see a problem with people enjoying cars other than the Mini. I understand you not wanting to read full posts about people's Subaru's, but it certainly doesn't create any problems if people mention them here and there.

I'd say this post was pretty much uncalled for...

I understand your frustration, UFO. Perhaps when Mark completes the site-migration to the new software platform, he'll have a special "Other Autos" or somesuch Forum to accomodate the constant need to discuss other "marques" (no pun intended).

Personally when people evaluate cars for purchase there are usually several that address a specific segment. In this case teh Subaru RS and WRX are viewed as being part of the same market segment. Obviously I have a preference for the MINI but I also have owned Subarus in the past and I thought they were great cars. I would like to leave open the option the discussion of comparing these cars (and other cars in this same segment) so that everyone can have the opportunity to make up their own mind about what is right for them. That said, if someone uses the site to constantly promote why their choice is so much better than the MINI (and is thereby trolling for reactions out of the membership) these posts will be deleted without warning since there are other sites on the net that support you particular brand interest.

Mark

PS: Moving to site feedback...

What I'm thinking is that since there is so much interest in other makes on NAM, it would be fun to have a separate "Other Cars" Forum here to post pics of cars other than MINIs and chat about them on that separate forum.

For example, it could be called Off Topic ::: Other Cars.

I realize that other MINI sites exist. However, my focus is on NAM and how it can best serve and entertain its membership.

Why can't I help but thinking my WRX lust brought this on.

Personally, I don't want to see another forum for it. It's called off topic and it works quite nicely. We have a seperate forum for Politics because it can be more inflamitory and a lot of people want to get away from that. I have no problem with a separate forum for politics. Discussions of other cars (I have started threads on the Z4, 1-series, the WRX, the 350Z, the new 5, audi A8L) happens periodically and I think it fits naturally into OFF TOPIC.

I like the topic diversity in Off Topic and I think it's totally appropriate to keep Off Topic as intact as possible (not creating a further stratification of the forums).

I think when the site migrates to the new software platform, Off Topic could have several different subtopics in it....like DiD's Automotive ****; Politics; Books; Films; Food & Restaurants; Naughty on NAM...you get the idea!

Naw, keep it all one area. One of the things I like about NAM a lot is that with Off Topic being all in one area (now 2), I run across things that are interesting that I probably wouldn't have even seen if they were in their own sub forum.

I dunno Clo - I would tend to integrate "Naughty on NAM" and "DiD's Automotive ****" into one Forum - otherwise I may get too excited!

I'd stay away from Naughty on NAM just so it doesn't appear we're sanctioning things beyond the site guidelines.

VWvortex has a forum to discuss all car makes and models. It's called The Car Lounge

That couch looks comfy.

Um...Dave: this is...ahem...all in good fun! We are NOT serious about **** on NAM. There's another MINI site that covers that angle, already.

Still hanging out in VWVortex-land, eh? Hmmmm.....switch-hitter!

Yeah, I just hang out on Vortex for the non-VW content. Mostly the car lounge and their photography forum.

Incidently before someone points it out, Vortex has their off topic area categorized. I like that aspect ON VORTEX. They have 100,000+ members and as such one O.T. forum would be chaos. That said, I almost never visit any of the off topic subforums on Vortex other than The Car Lounge and the Photography Forum. For my general O.T. experience, I come to NAM.
