MCO Calendar Contest
Mark: first, I think the caledar is a great idea and I'm looking forward to submitting some more photos for your consideration.
The reason I'm writing in, is that looking through the photos submitted thus far, there are some nice shots that are unusable because of their small size. Some are as small as 640 x 480. I'd like to encourage anyone that has submitted a small picture (anything less than 2272 by 1704 - 4 megapixel) to double check their hard drive for a HIGH RESOLUTION version of the picture to upload.
As much as *I* might like to see a 12 months of DiD MINI Photography calendar
there are some good shots others have submitted that could be contenders if only they were higher resolution.

Thanks for posting this Dave...I was just getting ready to post the same thing. There are some interesting photos already posted but, unfortunately, many of them don't meet the size requirements specified in the RULES. The calendar will be printed at a large, professional printer in the Denver area and low resolution artwork will not reproduce well...cheapening the look of the calendar. The goal of the calendar is to produce something similar in quality to an Ansel Adams-type of calendar.
Please review the rules and ensure that your entry can be considered for the calendar. Thanks!

The Good News: There are now nearly 60 pictures uploaded for the contest.
The Bad News: Only 16 (~25%) of the images are large enough for Mark to even consider using on the MCO Calendar.
Calendar images need to be 2272 by 1704 or greater. That's 4 Megapixel or larger!

Dave or Mark,
Could you please clarify something for me? Is the calendar going to be printed using full-color or black & white images? If it's b&w, that changes the whole approach to shooting our pics. I have many photos that I'd like to submit for consideration in a color calendar, but am pretty sure that they would not translate well to b&w images. TIA....
Cheers!

I would not mind submitting the photos but I want to make sure that I retain the copyright to my work.
So the question I have is this for a one time usage or submitting photos give unlimited usage to the publisher?
Having been in the business for many years I have to ak these question. Plus as these photos age some do become
more valuable.

Seeing some of your work I would more than welcome it for the calendar. I would be happy to talk to you offline how best to protect your copyright. Based on your experience in this area it would be helpful to me as well to understand how best to accomodate this type of request so we can incorporate it into the rules for the contest. Drop me an email at mferguson@northamericanmotoring.com with your contact information and I will be happy to give you a call. Thanks!
