European Car Jan.2003 issue has a fairly long section (Page 66, at the free ripout calendar) on modifying and tuning the Mini. Several MCO advertisers have their wares featured. Despite the "European" name, this is a USA publication and the local Giant Supermarket had it on the magazine shelves.

It is really funny to read a "European" car magazine that is so obviously American it is silly. Best car magazine that I know of is the British "CAR".

Their performance car shoot-out in the current magazine was great, and some of the editorials have me laughing until I pee my pants.

Read the editorial about car-free day and bicycles. Never read anything funnier in my life!

I'll agree with YuccaPatrol on that. CAR and EVO are fantastic magazines with excellent writing, interesting comparos, and beautiful photography.

As far as the European Car mag write up goes, the only car I was impressed with was the MINI Madness Cooper S. It was very apparent all three of the other "tuner" MINIs in the article were way behind in the production of performance products.

what are the rules with scanning and posting said articles on the board?

My assumption would be that one might get banned from this kind of site for re-publishing copyrighted material in the forums.

Probably always be able to get away with a quote or 2, but you'd also have the magazine editors to worry about for more serious legal action.

Best bet is to enjoy the beautiful glossy pages in the magazines for yourselves. . .

For something that is published openly on the internet, just post a link to the article and then there is no problem whatsoever when it comes to copyright attorneys

Dave,

thanks for the tip about EVO magazine. Just got a copy and am looking forward to some good bed-time reading.

I always saw it there on the top shelf, but just thought that it was about Mitsubishi's or something and left it there along with the Japanese import magazines on the same shelf at the news-stand.

My general opinion is that I am unlikley to really enjoy a car magazine if it does not have a price in British Pounds listed on the cover. I'll read the 2-3 interesting pages in things like European Car in the store so I can save the $$$ to get the real $8 European magazines. . . .

However, that little article in E.C. was pretty good and I bought it too, so maybe I am not a TOTAL snob. . .
