On Flame Threads.
I hope that some version of this is added or is used to help better outline code of conduct policies here.
My personal "rules" in posting:
1: I try to remember that the words I am reading, as well as the words I type are flat and carry no emotions with them. No big smiles, no laughs, no tone that would disarm a person reading them, thus they myst be written and interpreted carefully.
2: When I read something that I believe is written in a bad light, such as what has been called a "flame" I try to look how my responses prior may have caused it, and I try to deliver a reply that does more to calm the situation than to get even with the person who may have written me in less than the calmest of state. Again in this remember rule #1, there is no emotion in text, thus the word choice ought to be deliberate and exacting to the message you wish to communicate.
3: When I am unable to calm a situation with my posting replies I will contact a moderator, and as calmly as possible ask them to look into the issue. Most often this will cause any misunderstandings to be resolved.
4: I realize I have been on BBS's, E-mail lists, and forums for 15 years, and I am experienced in dealing with this, thus if I am too angered by the thread, I will do my best to step back and ask a mod. to handle it, as my loss of composure will hurt me more than any post made attacking me.
I hope this is in some way helpfull to someone here.
