"the local dealer, MoS, has a set of Sportmax, err, PU wheels on an R56 for sale (adding $3k to the sticker ). The 'F1 grade' wheel bolts have rusted while on the dealer lot. "

Well, the buyer shouldn't complain about it. They'll just tell him/her that's "normal." This time, they'd be right.

This forum isn't a democracy, so if Blackie doesn't like the way this whole thing is(n't) being handled, the door is the right place to go.

Blackie is quite clearly on some crusade against PU. That's fine, it's his/her choice, but it's becoming a little boring reading about it all over the place - hence the threads keep being merged.

Blackie is getting upset that PU are not responding and that (and I paraphrase) "They get away with it because they pay money as a site sponsor".

The point has been made, countless time, in various threads - the phrase "accept and move on (or out)" springs to mind here.

So, then, the same can be said to you. Or are only things you are interested in are okay? Don't like it; don't read it. Or log off. No, it isn't a democracy. But are you the self-appointed dictator?

everyone is bloody well entitled to their opinion, and opinions are like noses aren't they - everyone (hopefully) has one?

i'm tempted to do the next step, or what seems like it to me - and certainly others have done some of it, and tended in this direction

what i mean is, write a summation

something carefully footnoted, something factual, and something leveraging all credible first hand evidence, both pro and con

if that can be done, and it holds water, then one could approach PU business partners - carefully - and offer that summation as an "amicus curiae" brief to at least inform them that one of their partners may have a problem or two.

again, if that can be done and holds water, then such a summation could serve as a succinct and credible warning - a signpost if you will

to me, that makes more sense that our collective exercise of rhetoric, amusement, and regrettably profound irritation also

anyone take that bait?

I guess I am just dense. Or, maybe just offended that PU can continue to ply their "trade" here simply by paying the entrance fee. Believe me, I am not expecting the site to monitor every ad a vendor makes, but PU's reputation is based on an established and documented pattern, that to many here seems to warrant a banning from this site.

Leaving is for quitters, but you are also free to leave, or not be bothered by the attempts of some to see the vermin among us sent packing. I wonder, based on your cynicism, why you even bothered to put in your 2 cents here. It seems like such a waste of your precious time.

What you suggest has basically been done; maybe not all in one place, but it is all here and the former owner is well aware of it (as I suspect the current owners are too). Take a look at the photos (in the threads and the product reviews) of how their crappy products have failed. Is that not documentation? I have spoken to the folks at PU by telephone and exchanged plenty of e-mails with them too; I don't need any more evidence. I certainly do not need any further proof of their sincerity and dedication to making money over fulfilling their promises and making quality products.

BTW, you got your facts wrong. Threads do not "keep getting merged".

There were 2 threads that were merged. These 2 threads that were merged were started to make NAMers aware that there was an attempt being made for all those who have been burned by PU to write to the new site owners en mass. Frankly, I did not know which of the two forums was the better place to begin this effort (as it was previously embedded within a thread under 1st gen modifications), so I started a thread in both forums and those 2 were merged; plain and simple.

As to you being bored , no one is forcing you to read anything here about PU. Obviously something is attracting your curiosity though; you even wasted your time making a rebuttal. A more suspicious person might think you have an agenda for dropping in to throw water on the effort. In that vein, when things were still cordial, PU told me that they "know" of NAM participants who were effectively paid off by other vendors to bad mouth PU. Frankly, I'd sooner believe that would be a tactic that PU would resort to trying or arranging to have a few defenders here so it is not so one sided (and then accuse some other vendors of stooping to it).

Additionally, this is not "my" crusade. Plenty of NAMers were burned long before I was (and I was warned by other NAMers, once I started writing about my issues with PU not to expect PU to be honorable); they have gripes more serious than my own. I'm simply letting them know that when challenged about PU's continued existence here among us (and precipitated by a recent, blatantly misrepresentative and low vendor advertisement), Ferguson told us to go write our complaints to the new owners. That is all this latest PU thread is about.

Since you're a Brit (even if now in CA), have you ever been to the PU shop in London? Do you know if one actually exists? Do you know if Palo Uber (the artist) is or is not real? Maybe you could help clear up some of the rampant suspicion. Or, maybe not.

None....
And no shill or shame here...nothing wrong just find your inability to let things be kind of ridiculous....drop your scoop and complain about PU thats one thing but running with something from the company your trying to justify as being crap bugs the hell out of me.....I don't poop where I eat or buy Nike's because I don't want to support a company that uses sweatshops

Very entertaining thread. This issue has been going on for years. Of course the newbs have to be warned occassionally, but the rest of us just stay away from overpriced, low quality copies. At least I do since I bought my Bolex watch.

to Internet Brands for making a very tough dicision. PU represented the very worst that a vendor could be, but IB and Mark had to be very careful that everytime a member here had a problem with one of the advertisers there was not and will not be a call for censorship. Hopefully this situation will never occur again.

As a vendor, I think PU got what they deserved--in light of all the complaints against them. However, it's silly to give congratulations to IB and say that Mark wouldn't step up to the plate to get rid of PU. If Mark hadn't addressed the issues directly to PU numerous times (which they didn't comply) and didn't gather the evidence that gave IB the confidence to refuse further sponsorship by PU..IB would still be looking for "solid" reasons to get rid of them...and he might still be a sponsor here today.

Mark has had plenty of time to address the problem.....but he passed on doing anything. No response from him, it was IB that stepped up and posted the message.

That's actually not factually correct...but then again, I'm friends with Mark and happen to know a lot more about what goes on behind the scenes than most people.

If I had to guess

the assumption that Mark didn't have a hand in booting PU....

Anyway, they're gone.

Can we all get along now?
