What is RIGHT here on NAM

We've had discussions about what is wrong here on NAM. Now it's time for a little thread about what's right with NAM that may not exist on other forums.

I'm starting this thread because I just had a pleasant experience made possible by a member here. I made an off topic remark on some thread about how I was going to replace my MCS grille with on from an MC. A member here saw this and directed me to an eBay auction he was having for just what I wanted. He had put the item here in the Marketplace section, but no one seemed interested.

I was the only bidder on eBay, and now thanks to the thoughtfulness of a member, I am getting a great deal on the grille he removed from his MC (he went the other way and put an MCS grille on his car).

There's lots of other stuff I could mention, and probably will later, but wanted to point out my good fortune that the way this site is set up and participated on provided.

Mark and others involved in creating and managing this site have done a great job in providing us MINI folks with a wonderful community. I'm in 4th gear, and still discovering new and useful features here.

Thanks guys.

Besides being a great place to read up on all things MINI, and for providing space, support and a forum for the Chicago MINI Motoring Club, I was able to find instructions and pictures that allowed me to replace my faulty reverse light switch this afternoon.

Thanks NAM!!!

It's been a great place to learn more about my MINI and actually meet some really special people that share in the fun and pleasure of owning a MINI.

Lots of people, very diverse, never a dull moment...even for insomniacs. OT is a blast. NAM clebrates both MINIs and MINI owners and that's a good thing.

This is a very welcoming community. I was lurking quite a bit well before I even thought about getting Dexter! This is also a great place for lots of practical MINI assistance and Off-Topic is a HOOT!!

This is great to see, a thread praising NAM

Here are a few others

Yes I know I started these, but I've been a NAM flag waver since joining the site

I've also started some that question the goings on here, but I tend to like to get things off my chest and into the open, and you can do that here, even without slamming folks or their opinions.

Mark

One right item is that NAM allows a thread like Whats Wrong with NAM and takes the feedback seriously.

I've been a follower/lurker (and in the past two years a participant) on NAM, beginning in the "old days" of MCO, where I spent a year reading about the '02s while I was patiently waiting for 12 months just to place an order on my first MINI, a 2003 MCS. Yes, It took a year just to get a production number!

NAM is invaluable both as a resource for the cars MINI/mini, and the community that embraces these LITTLE/even smaller minis! There is such a diversity of folks/interests represented here, a tribute to the appeal of MINI/Minis. Recently, while doing some research on my mini pickup project, I spent time on some Honda Vtec forums. Very ugly over there in the honda universe. Very limited vocabulary--and of the 50 words typically spewed, they're not the sort you would typically read in a public venue.

I really enjoy and appreciate a community with representation from teens to old farts, who somehow all come together and agree/disagree with topics usually related to these little motorized breadboxes.
