New Posts Feature?

I use the New Posts feature a lot to check out what's going on. I think it would be helpful if in the right hand column where it lists the name of the forum but to also include the parent forum. IE, there are 1st gen and 2nd gen forum names that are the same. Without clicking on the thread, you can't tell if it's 1st Gen or 2nd Gen. Is that possible to add?

And, if possible, it would nice to see the date/time when the thread was started in addition to the date of the latest post.

I've given it a shot at integrating the two above changes in the New Posts display. Let me know if it works as you want.

Mark,

it sort of works. The Modifications subforums do not show if 1st or 2nd generation. It only states Modifications:

The Started field under the Subject line does not have a closed parentheses. All the times listed show time in the future as well 3.55PM

Edit...after posting I noticed all posts now show 06:00PM

Give it another try Nathan. I think I solved both issues you mentioned. Thanks!

Date for start of thread definitely looks better as just a date. Nice tweak.

That looks great, thansk for quick turnaround.

This feature should be very helpful.

Is it a hack or a switch I can find in my forums control panel?

one consequence of the time stamp is formatting. The thread title column is scrunched and the one next to it is wide open. Fix plz kthx!

Actually, I think the Last Post column is wide in your screenshot because one of the recent posts is by a user that has a long id with all caps (maybe further down the list). Check out some of the other forum sections and you should see that the Last Post column is narrower.

The fix for this would be to wrap long user ids, but I'm not sure that's easy to do.

you're right. still.....wrapping the thread title in such a small box vs. displaying the whole name spread out makes it very hard to read. I'd surmise most people would care more about the subject than who the author of the last post is.

Looks like this is because of both using a small browser width and an unusual username. I'm sure that I could hack the code to split up usernames and the like but it would risk breaking a lot of other things on the site.

can you just add more to the thread title box? it's really quite hard to read quickly compared to what it was before.
