73' Austin Mini

Year: 1973
Make: MINI
Model: Cooper
Price: $4500
Mileage: 74000
Color: Green
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): Midwestern

Hey guys, I have made the decision that currently I should probably move this Mini Cooper I have been sitting on. I really don't want to sell it however we have a baby on the way and the money can help with some upcoming bills but mostly it needs some work that I do not possess the time or money to do. here is the run down:

It is a 73' Grey market Canadian left hand drive import Mini 1000 with 998ccs of fury. It is 4 speed manual and has ...a lot of mileage on the clock, the odometer does not work it stopped at 74k, i am sure it has at least 50k more than that on the engine. the listing wont allow me to enter ??? for mileage.

The good:
It runs, it has a heater and is a hoot to drive. It has just had about 1200 worth of work done: New wheel bearing up front, new steering rack, refurbished shift linkage, new brake slave cylinders and drums all around and relocated horn button .

The bad:
its a 40 year old British car that leaks oil I believe it will require new gaskets on the trans as that is the source of the leakage (engine and trans share the oil), It smells like gas (probably because the aftermarket extended fuel cell needs to be better vapor sealed) It has some rust (of course) and minor dents on the boot lid, its exhaust is not so great if you are driving behind it and the upholstery needs some work.

on my last drive the engine started getting hot, since then I have flushed the radiator and run it briefly. So, it will require a little more TLC. I just don't have the time or money to do so and thus it sits in my garage.

I am thinking I would like to get 4.5k for it but hey shoot me an offer.

location: Elgin IL, west of Chicago.

It runs fine. I was trying to change the oil but the sump pump bolt is on super tight. ill probably have to take it to a shop. The e brake is weak but it comes with little chocks to jam under the wheels.

I'm very interested in buying it. I'm going to see about shipping it down here to Texas. Would you take 4000?

oh and MatticusFrye if you want, we can do a skype session so you can "Look over" the car. I want to make sure you see as much of it as you can so you can make an informed decision. Long range transaction make me twitchy cause it is harder for the buyer if he cant look it over thoroughly. I don't want anyone to be dissatisfied with the purchase.
