Other than that, is it a plug and play installation or would I have to fiddle with the airbags? I was considering reupholstering my seats or simply replacing them with something more "sporty." I saw Carbeaus today and liked them, but this would be an interesting option of the airbags function.

I'd assume that you'd have to look into the wiring of the seats OEM airbags as well as the ones w/ the Mini to see about getting them to be compatible. That was what I'd planned to do.

Okay, a little research is in order before I move forward

Just a heads up for F56 owners, OMP is the only aftermarket seat company to make brackets for our Mini's
I had to have my brackets custom welded and fabricated to fit the Sparco brackets

Keep me posted if this works or if its doable, i have two pairs of RS seats and St seats ..... didnt think these would fit the mini.
No sure on the mini side if they have a OPDS ocupant detection sensor under the passenger seat, if they do there is no way to bypass the system as the focus uses a different Gell filled tube with a pad sensor. If Mini has just the seat airbags those are easy splice and dice or put a 2 ohm resister to bypass the system. Need to flip the passenger seat on teh mini and see if there are modules. On the older pre 2013 i think it would be easier to install, but on the 13 and higher the mini would have more sophisticated system. Unless like the focus guys did with the euro speck recaros they would strip the opds system and hide it under the seat to have their airbag light off. However Mini has tons more coding for the airbag system so i would assume you could code the seat airbags and opds out of the equation all together.
Let me know if its doable...

Edit - you do not have an E-mail listed on your profile. Can you please E-mail me? The PM system here sucks and I cant keep track of anything when replying.
