Replaced both door handles. The driver's side black plastic soft touch coating was sort of melting or deteriorated. Tight working quarters inside the door skins on this job. Happy with results.

Yes, over time they get really gummy on the rubber grip. Mine are getting there after 10 years, i replaced mine with the checkered version and they are getting like that.

He is in Orange County. There are lots of mobile guys that do this sort of repair on site.

Installed new 6x9's in the rear. Hoping the rear panels have plenty of clearance to re-install.

Pulled out the entire headliner because the front edge started to significantly droop (rear sides were a little loose too). This was big job. Glued it back on with 3M headliner adhesive spray. Waiting on a Valentine 1 installation wire to put the headliner back because I think I want to route the wire under the headliner.

Dropped the MINI off with mechanic today for some engine upgrades. 15% pulley, cold air intake, spark plugs, belt, and tensioner.

Got my MINI back last night. Definitely sounds cool with the 15% pulley and cold air intake. Supercharger is way more noticeable. Haven't driven too much be seems a bit peppier.

My son and I repaired the headliner and installed it back in the car. That's was quite a big job!

My daughter and I installed a new Kenwood receiver along with mic for using Bluetooth phone while driving. Selectable display color matches the MINI great.

Installed upgraded front speakers in doors. JBL 6-1/2" and new tweeters with crossovers. Scosche SABW651 is correct model for 6-1/2" adapter (Crutchfield sent me wrong part and didn't stock this for R53).

Sounds great now with the Rockford Fosgate 6x9's in the rear. Just waiting for my sub enclosure to finish it up.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I think thats really cool that you have something so precious of his and now you can make it your own.

Your mods take me back to my first car - I had an audio system in it too (see, my sig name stuck after all these years!). I was really into car audio back in the day, and used to really enjoy ripping my cars apart to install all the gear. What sub are you doing? Sealed 10"? It wont take much to hammer in the mini.

Keep us posted on the mods!!

ps- love the actual size sticker. I may steal that.

The Integral Audio 10" enclosure. To me it seemed like the most stealth option. Had to pick up some of the components individually because they don't offer the complete kit anymore. Bracket will need some modification etc. I'm hoping to have the subwoofer project completed within the next couple weeks.

When the cold air intake was installed, we noticed the front intake pipe wouldn't stay in place due to poor snap condition. Got a new part from eBay and installed it last night.

We got an OBD programming cable from eBay (item# 252496444220) and it came with a thumb drive with EVERYTHING needed to code the car. Several auto installation programs that set everything up for doing the job. I was prepared to do a bunch of downloading and manual installation but we got lucky. The seller was also very responsive answering a few questions I had.

I really wanted to code the doors to unlock when key is removed as it's a pain to always have to unlock them with the switch or pull twice on the handle. We also coded the remotes to lock/unlock everything with one button press and auto up on the driver's window among a few other things.

My son and I got the subwoofer amp installed and wired this afternoon. All ready to go, just need the enclosure. Used the R56 amp bracket from Integral Audio.

We were able to code the auto up driver's window, but on the facelift R53's the passenger side won't code for auto up. We built the little circuit found online using two capacitors and one resistor to trick the car into holding the up button on passenger window for about 6 seconds effectively auto upping it every time. Works great!

The gear shift selector button was broken on ours, so we pulled it off and installed a new one. Now you can't go from Drive to Park without pressing the button in

While adding the auto up passenger window circuit, we installed our eBay 6 toggle button panel to replace the original 4 button one. The plan is to add front/rear fog lights. Rear fog light is ordered and should be easy install and coding. Still looking into front retrofit kit.

I'm pretty sure ECS has the Front Driving Lights as a Retro Kit for your one stop shopping needs...

ECSTuning, am I correct?

Motor On!

Thanks for letting me know JABowders.

The factory kit is NLA, but we made our own kit with the factory MINI parts (we do this all the time). 63120144132 KT
