#225 here. Just picked up about two weeks ago. Didn't realize what I was looking at until I really started digging. So what I have here is a Monte Carlo 40th with the full JCW engine works and aero kit, plus it has rare 18 inch R95 wheels and cruise control. Somehow I guess the Mini Gods were looking after me. It was owned by a little old lady who told me " I bought it because it was cute" she said, lol. She can't drive it anymore because of her health, shifting the clutch and all. After looking at it, I could not sleep that night and had to go back and get it ASAP. I think this is one rare 40th. I don't have any stickers for it, but will try to find some or have them made later (just for shows). I've spent the last two weeks taking it apart, fixing small and big things, and generally doing a total refresh. It even has some signatures on the intercooler cover that I have not been able to discern yet. If anyone can tell who's signatures these are please let me know thanks. For now, I planning to keep it stock and just enjoy. Cheers!

I didn't know that the MC40s had cruise control - mine doesn't. Those wheels are different than my BBS wheels. I wonder why it doesn't have the decals. Perhaps there are some mods going on here.

I know right? Cruise control ! I read everything I could about the MC40 (does not come with cruise or sunroof, I read) and deducted that someone at some point had all these mods done at the point of entry or a dealer when this car was new. Talking to the PO she did no mods on the car. I guess the stickers/placard went missing a long time ago. I bought the car with 160,000 miles. It's a slow but great restoration of love now. Cheers

Awesome, there is a match. Looks like the Dinan stuff might have came off.

Dave, thanks so much. I really appreciate the info. Everything matches up with the carfax, dealer service records and what little info I got from the prior owner. I appreciate your help.

No problem.
I don't think that site has been updated in a while.
It still says mine has the original owner. Lol
Your cruse control must have been a dealer retrofit at some time as no MC40's came with cruse.
It's because the sport steering wheel was part of the option package and the cruse controls are in the wheel.
Or so I have read. Good luck on your project.
I have owned mine for 4 years and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Mine only has 65K on the clock. Dave

I concur Dave, the cruise control must have been added when the full JCW package was installed as well as the R95 wheels.

I also noticed the MC40.com registry has not been maintaned as well. I do know my car was a Kansas car early on. The second owner told me there is where she got it.

This is my second Mini. I had an 02 MCS which I slightly modified with CAI, 17% pulley, ECU flash and catback. That car was a blast! Then I got rid of it, should have kept it. I had a 911 (996 C4S) but those cars will eat your wallet away a $1,000 at a time. Although I did wrench on it once and while, but when it went to the shop it was painful, lol. Just sold the 911 and was looking for a 02-06 BMW M3. I then saw an ad for this Mini on craigslist and just had to have it. I love this car and am glad to get back in a Mini, plus I can totally wrench on this car as well.

So far so good. Today I got the front windshield replaced, tomorrow the headlights get polished and Friday I get all the wheels repainted, polished etc. Meanwhile, I'm changing all the fluids, the belt, plugs etc. I plan to keep this car. Cheers

Got around to changing the drive belt today. No wonder it was squealing, some no name brand was on there from the previous owner. Sounds like a Mini now.

Merry Christmas to our Sheldon. Got the headlights done. Could have did it myself but really wanted a professional long last job with a "take back clause" lol, after a year if they discolor again. I can see at night again.

Found number 868 in Colorado. Low miles and the owner says it's in great condition.

Sorry
I forgot to post the sorce of the MC40 graphics I purchased.
https://www.firestormgraphix.com/
This is their web site.
They do not list the graphics on the site.
Just email them as ask for the MC 40 graphics set.
The quality is great.
I got the two rear fender graphics, larger hood graphic, and the number plate graphic.
I also got the magnetic door numbers from them.
I could not find the emails of who I talked too.
The prices were good too.
To many things got in the way of installing them.
So they are not on the car yet.
I hope this helps anyone looking to replace the originals. Dave

MC40 Graphics

Dave,

Thanks for the post on the graphics. It will help the group.

The decals I purchased from 3M (no longer a supplier) are still looking great, but a construction site on I-4 was sandy and rocky resulting in a sand blast of the front of my car and a repaint will be required, so new decals will be needed.

Interestingly, I contacted Firestorm this week and they responded as if they had never seen these graphics before and wanted me to detail all of the measurements. Will contact them again.

Glen Moore

I will look again for my contact info.
It was amazing what they could do from good photos of the graphics and sizes.
If they did not save the info all they need are good photos of the originals and the sizes.
I would think they would have saved the files as I told them I was sure more owners would be interested. Dave
Maybe sending a photo may jog their memory.

#505 is for sale in Maryland, as advertised on ebay.

Who wants a 2004 MINI Cooper S MC40(Monte-Carlo 40 year commemorative edition, only 1000 of this model made an this one is #505)? We are the second owner of the car(the car is original from Hawaii). We got the car in Dec 2009 with 83,xxx miles if my memory is correct. It's in decent shape for being 13 years old. It now has 126,xxx miles. The driver seat has a tear in the side, other than that the interior is in good shape. On the body it does have a small scratch on the pass side rear corner, small scratch on the drivers door by the handle and a small circle spot on the hood where the clear coat is chipping off. All 4 wheels do have some minor curb rash. The wheels came with a factory clear coat on the edge. When we got the car, the clear coat had started to flake off 2 of the wheels. I have since sanded the clear coat off and fixed some of the curb rash on the edge of the wheel. Since we have owned the car I have changed the oil every 3000-4000 miles. I have also had to change the fuel pump(it was replaced with a factory mini part, not aftermarket), coolant reservoir(it was replaced with a factory mini part) and I have also had to change the O2 sensor(that is not factory mini, it is ACDelco brand). Long story short about the tires(we were out of town and needed 2 tires and we took the only 2 tires they had at the time), the 2 front tires are the same name brand but the 2 rear tires are 2 different name brands. The wife loves this car and use to drive it Monday thru Friday to work. Now it just sits and she drives it maybe once a week. We still love the car but we think it's time for someone else to enjoy and drive the car an love it as much as my we did. That's all I can think of right now. If you have any more questions or want more pictures of the car, contact me through Ebay. Thanks for looking!
On Jan-06-17 at 04:13:07 PST, seller added the following information:
Also just remembered some work that we had done by the MINI dealership. This was about 6 months ago. Car wouldn't start, tow it to the mini dealership. After they did some investigation, they found a bad wire going to one of the relays that controls the computer for starting. I can't remember if it was the starter relay or the ignition relay. I just know it cost me $900 for them to fix one wire that was about 5 inches long.

I have the car for sale local.

Good morning MC40 owners. Today I have some p0rn to share with you. I normally post on the "other" Mini forum, although I occasionally drop in here every few months as this is a slower moving thread yet MC40 content and info heavy. As this is an Mc40 specific topic I thought some of you would appreciate what I have done. I have had my Mc40 for over 10 years now, and rebuilt the motor about a year and a half ago. Currently has 180k and doesn't get driven much. Number unknown, vin is TD90357, 6/04 build date so from what I can tell it is likely one of the last. I only have plans to repaint the bumpers and the roof as they are peeling from stone chips. Everything else is otherwise good condition.

Thanks for this great story and it's good to see that these MC40's are living on. I really dig the green color on the engine, being retired Army, I've always been around green, lol. Thanks and motor on!

Well done, looks like a Classic Mini Austin block in that color.

Hi MC40 Peeps!

I'm looking for an R53 without a sunroof. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more MC40s than the other sunroof deletes put together. Any a few questions about the MC40. Sorry if these are answered elsewhere but my searches didn't find answers.

Is the MC40 part of the facelift 1st gens? It has three spoke steering wheel, what else?

Related to question 1. How is the rustproofing on MC40s? My R53 will be my winter car here in Chicago so this is important. was told by a Mini tech that the '05-'06 and some of the '04s have better rustproofing.

Is the MC40 part of the facelift 1st gens? It has three spoke steering wheel, what else?

What features/packages do the MC40s lack? I get that they were trying to make a stripped down sports version. At the same time, it was also a premium cost. No automated HVAC, what else is missing?

thanks in advance!
