Those of us who prefer the tow hook would actually rather not have any front plate (or a Euro plate if we could).

And if we are going to be forced to have a plate, we would rather have no holes in the bumper.

But, I know for one, if I could find a no holes center bumper mount (I've seen the flip down ones, but don't feel they are secure enough), I probably would go with a center position.

I really wish a personalized Euro front plate with CA license plate "value" (it's not a number) would be legal. I've read that some have tried, but in general it's more of a magnet for a fix-it ticket than no plate at all -- I ran with no front plate on my 2009 MCS for just short of five years until I got pulled over for nothing but front window tint and no front plate less than two miles from my house.

New axle

Got my MCS manual trans last week. Wobbled a bit between 25 and 40 mph. Took it to the dealer earlier today. They thought it was a feathered tire, but now are telling me it needs a new axle... Not happy. Very spooked to think what else could be lurking... How did mini or the dealer not notice this???

The dealer installed my missing front tow hook cover.

In the past week, both my wife and I experienced difficulty in shutting down the engine. We were not in green mode. I had pulled up to a gas station and was waiting for the attendant, the engine stayed at idle after repeated presses of the start/stop button. I fussed with putting it into gear, pumped the brakes, and eventually it was able to shutdown... Not sure what was effective, and will keep a eye out for it.

took my Justa in this morning - noticed small oil puddles under the car when parked. was told late this afternoon that it was a valve cover gasket improperly seated from the factory which they replaced - picking up my car tomorrow morning... disconcerting that they didn't catch this before delivery

After driving the courtesy car, base Clubman, I can't wait to get back to the F56...

No Signal

Went to the dealership on a Saturday June 28 purchased a new 2014 (Only 8 miles on it!). Drove 100 miles to dinner, and when we left to go home the Mini connect system displayed no signal. Drove home, turned the car off and restarted and the system came on. Went out to drive on Sunday, no signal again. Took it back to the dealer Monday, got a loaner until they could fix it. Found out it could not be fixed and a new system had to ordered. The part was going to take over a month to get. The dealer searched the USA inventory for another car with the same specs to no avail. They then offered to order us a 2015 and pay the difference. So, we are now waiting for our ncar, it should arrive this week! I cant wait to get out of the rental, even tho the dealership is paying!

My wife's Cooper S just went in this week for the "Check Drive-train" error. The car drove fine for the week or so it took to get it scheduled. The same as some others have stated, the dealership just had to reprogram the computer and it was good to go. Took them like 4 hours to do. I am guessing that they have not had to do too much with the new Mini's. Everyone knew which car my wife's was, she got the launch package and apparently it was a huge hit around the dealership. Other than that this car has not had any issues.

Sorry, I was assuming people knew what that was. The "launch package" sounds a lot cooler than it actually is. It was the first F-56 each dealer got, most got 1 or possibly 2 total. Each had its own package of upgrades like roof decals, side scuttles, floor mats, etc. My wife's had the hood stripes, checkered side scuttles, checkered mirrors, and the rally lights mounted on the front bumper. Really sharp looking to tell you the truth. It also marks on the window sheet "launch package". Not sure but it might make it somewhat rare even though you can order all of those accessories anyway.

842 miles so far.

Reliability - perfect.

"Justa" got left out completely however.

With a B38 I'm as quick as the original R53 Gollum, which was quick.

New ball game.

Thanks Mini.

Cheers,

Charlie

Have a F56 MCS. Took delivery 2nd week of June. Have around 2k miles on it. Developed a slow leak in the driver's side rear tire earlier this week. Have tire and wheel insurance, so took it to the dealer for repairs. After 2 days, turns out there was no puncture, but there is a pinpoint casting defect in the wheel. 17" black Cosmos wheels. The kicker is that the service department tells me there are no such wheels available in the US or Europe and that they are back-ordered waiting for production. They are telling me it might be 2 months till they get a wheel. Meanwhile there are cars on the lot for sale with the same wheel but they cannot or will not exchange from "for sale" inventory. Very aggravating. Interestingly the Sewell website show 4 available for shipment within 48 hours. Brought this to the dealers attention and they will look in to it. On the bright side, I was given a loaner just not crazy about the idea of my car sitting on the back lot for up to 2 months for a flat tire. Hopefully better news to follow.

my car just threw a "drivetrain malfunction" when pulling away from a right-turn in 1st gear. power cut from the car and it turned into a do not drive warning... i pulled over - and tried starting it back up and the code was gone... I've since driven it about 10 mileswith no code/issues, will be taking it in tomorrow morning. Had posted earlier about a slight surge at highway speeds ..

Will report back as soon as I hear something..

We just wanted to jump in and provide this information:

Our website defaults to "48 hours" when it there is not any other relevant information to help it estimate availability.

The indicator of "PPC = 4" refers to Parts Per Car - Four wheels are installed on the vehicle.

We ran a check on part number 36116855109 - Black Cosmos 17" wheel and there are zero in the USA and zero in Germany. There is an ETA in Germany of approximately 8-14-2014. Provided that your dealer has already placed an order and the quantity arriving in Germany is large enough to fill everyone's backorder, it should take an additional 3-4 weeks to arrive in the USA.

Sorry to hear about your wheel and the bad news regarding a replacement.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!

-Thanks

70 mph on the freeway... power completely cut with a "drivetrain malfunction"... really scary. Got it pulled over and stopped, then it died even with the clutch in. Restarted and seems to run. Limped it the last mile home. Towing to the dealer tomorrow AM.

If you said it was your alfa, I wouldn't have been to surprised. Weird for a new car.
And no I am not an alfa basher, I love those cars, and use to own one. Wish I still did.

THAT car just works. It's grumpy when it's cold, then it just works.

UPDATE: car was in for a few days... needed a software update as it thought there was a potential overpressure problem in the "charging system" (translation: forced induction). Dealer updated the software, pressurized, smoke-tested, and drove the car under boost to confirm. We'll see!

The part I didn't like is that while they allowed me to review the technical bulletin from BMW, they would not allow me a copy of said bulletin.

Keep us informed--that's the wheel I ordered on my 2015. Since I can't drive my 2015 until the EPA releases it in October (see threads to that effect), you're welcome to run over to Brunswick, GA, where the car offloaded on August 2, and "borrow" a wheel until yours comes in. Just make sure you replace it when you get yours.

Now 2100 miles and no pending issue at this time.
Previously a TPMS error came up and recalibration at the dash was required to clear up.
Since then, so far so good!

Yes, you are lucky!
I got pulled over and got a ticket in CA for a front license plate related issue.
Yes, I did have a license plate on the front bumper, but I had installed a "CLEAR" plexiglass cover over the plate to keep it clean from road debris, bugs, etc. The cop said that's violation of vehicle code in CA.

Currently, the 17" Black Cosmos alloy wheel option is on hold, meaning that you are unable to order a 2015 MINI with this wheel as it is in short (or possibly non-existent) supply. Hopefully they are able to locate one for you soon!

That is because the technical bulletin is considered proprietary information and is not allowed to be shared with the customer. It is property of MINI USA and the dealer network only. Just like the internal "Dealer Communication System" printout your key provides the dealer when in for service. It is listed as confidential information not allowed to be shared with the customer, which seems odd since it is a record of YOUR vehicle's warranty history and information.
