I put 25,000 miles on Hawk Ceramics and they are VERY low dust, and the dust just wipes off... but they don't have the initial bite of the OEM pads or track pads.

I'm now a few thousand miles into CarboTech Bobcats - I think they're the current "best" performing low dust street pad that are also OK for autocross and light track work... Took a thousand miles and trip to the Dragon to get them thoroughly worked in... but now the suckers STOP. And make only a little more dust than the Hawks did. They're also a slightly softer compound than the Hawks, which are reported to not "eat" rotors like the Hawk Ceramics can...

Forget EBC

Just put EBC green pads on and after one week I can't believe the amount of black brake dust they produce. They are advertised as "very low dust" but they are double what the stock pads were. I put 43,000 on the stock pads and still had quite a bit left and wish I'd just let them go. If these continue dusting the wheel I'm going to replace them with Hawk pads.

There is no ONE pad that will do everything you want. http://www.autoxcooper.com/ctbrakes.html we offer the full line of Carbotech pads. Daily driving, AutoX and Track events all demand higher and higher levels of braking performance. I AutoX the Bobcats and they work better then OEM and have much less dust then OEM. There have been many threads on NAM in the last month about pads, I encourage you to search them out and see what other NAM members are saying.

I have Hawk HPS pads (not ceramic). They are low dusting & have almost as much initial bite as the OEM's do. I would guesstimate in one weeks driving time my Hawks put out the amount of dust that the OEM pads do in one day. Have no clue about autocrossing though.

As noted in the papers in the box - you need to get past the break-in coating on the pads....

I've used EBC green on my 02 for 4 years and have them on my 07 .... get past the b/in coating and the dust drops way off

i don't drive hard...takes about 3 weeks for me

FYI, there's no "break-in coating" on CT pads.

That's good to know there's a break in coating on the EBC's. At the rate the dust is building up I can't imagine these things lasting long. Once the break in was completed were you satisfied with the dust build up?

I was/am still in the same spot as rustspot.

This is the tread that I started a while back.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=138151

Lots of good advise.

I went with Hawk HPS all around, as the amount of Autox and track days will be low, 3 Ax and 1 track day a year. I really don't need that much more in stopping power, however, thinking back to my trackday, (picture in my sig ) the stock set up did fade a little bit towords the end of each 20 minute session. That's why I went with Power Slots in hopes to keep the temps and gasses down a little bit when I do track the car again. They should be installed in the next few weeks. I'll try to give an update. PM me if you have questions, I'm certain to forget.

Running Hawk Ceramics and they are very very clean..Not as much bite as stock but very good. Just ran the Dragon with them and was satisfied.

Carbotech Bobcats are great for everyday, Dragon runs and Autocross with good braking and very low dust.....But don't take them to the track...Turned mine into charcoal at Phil Wicks..

PS: Got mine from Dustin at AutoXcooper, great service and prompt delivery

I still love the Bobcats. I'm currently alternating between Bobcats for everyday use (95% of the time) and CarboTech AX6 pads for high performance mountain runs and *light* track days. The AX6 pads have much more initial bite and higher heat tolerance (both good for aggressive twisty driving) but are dusty as h3ll and squeal.

The bobcats are great daily pads, though. Very good performance and CLEAN and quiet.

I bought my Bobcats from Dan Zipkin at Grassroots Garage. Bought my AX6's from Dustin at AutoXCooper. Both offer similar pricing and excellent service. Note that Carbotech pads are typically made to order and dropped shipped from Carbotech, though I know Dan sometimes stocks Bobcats.

I'll chime in with a vote for the Carbotech Bobcats. Very little dust, quiet and better than stock braking.

Another vote for Hawk Ceramics . . . been running them for about 15K miles and love them. Very little dust and I frankly noticed no loss at all in performance

Has anyone run both the Hawks and the Bobcats? I'm ready to ditch the dustmakers...
