We're Having a Detailing/Winterizing party! (CHANGED TO Oct. 8!!!)

When: SUNDAY, October 8th, 12:00 PM - ? (weather permitting)

Where: 5210 Reddington Drive Dublin, OH 43017 (MapQuest the address for directions) 614-889-9199 if you get lost.

What: We will be detailing cars using a variety of Griot's products and (for those that need it) a random orbital polisher. The goal is to get your Mini prepped for the winter, including clay barring, waxing and sealing. We will also be doing maintenance type things like swapping summer rims for all-seasons, etc.

We will also be firing up the grill and will be doing hot dogs - feel free to bring other things if dog's aren't your thang. My place is set up to handle kids as well, so feel free to bring the rug rats, and I also have a nice big TV for those that might want to watch any games that are playing that weekend.

Prep: If you want to do a clay barring and polish, we HIGHLY recommend washing your car with "classic blue" Dawn dish soap or some other wax stripping pre-treatment the night before the event, to save time. I'll hook up my hose for those that need to do a rinse before claying, though.

Cost: All advice, comraderie and hot dogs are free, however, if you want to use any of the Griot's products (Sean, codename S Curves will be bringing part of his extensive stash), we'd ask that you make a donation of $10 or $15 to cover his replacement costs - it's only fair. Beverages of all kinds are welcome on a BYOB basis.

What to bring: If you have a favorite product and are just looking for help or advice, bring it with you, along with any special buckets, wash mits, detail spray, clay bar or anything else you want to keep using. If you want to swap out your summer tires for winter rubber, bring your winter rims - we will have a jack and a torque wrench on-hand for those that need it.

I'm trying to see if any of the local detailing gurus or retaillers want to drop in as well, either just for the hell of it or to share their professional wisdom, so we might have new events added in prior to the date of the event.

Hope to see everyone!

UPDATE: Heather at Detailers Paradise has just informed me that she'll be sending out some demo and sample product for the party (thanks, Heather!)

If you plan to attend, do me a favor and let me know here or in a PM so I can give her an accurate head-count. I'd hate for anyone to go away empty-handed.

Thanks, again, Detailer's Paradise!

Maybe we can all do a drive after our cars are clean. I used to drive up riverside then down the other side of the river all the time. It would be fun to do with a group.

Hey Sean, are they sending us our refund checks for our last Griots trip? What I really need is their super wax remover for my wheel arches. Even after a go with Skippy's best the wax marks are returning.

I think I know just what to use to fix your problem. At least it worked for Mike and I.

I have to work so I won't be able to make it. I could drop my car off if someone wants to wash it for me. It's a cabrio so it's really only like washing half a car...

Well I have to say your change is going to be great for me. I was going to have to miss a rally on Saturday to attend. Now I can go & beat up my wifes Forester XT on the gravel roads of Coshocton & Tuscarawas counties. The Old Farts Rally Team is at it again. Rally Ho!!!

The annual Johnny Appleseed Rally will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006.
As usual, it will be part of the SCCA Central Division Rally Championship
series. This year we will be starting and finishing at the recently reopened Zoar
Tavern in Zoar, Ohio (see attached flyer).

Looking forward to seeing you in October,

If anyone is interested in running, PM me for contact details.

We looked at the time frame on sunday and we can squeeze things in but will have to leave by 2pm. We really were not looking to strip wax and go the whole nine yards (I did that 2 weeks ago and my wifes MINI is only a month old) More of a wash, wax and enjoy the MINI's (and hot dogs). Although I do thank you guys for the offer of saturday morning.

Not a problem, didnt want to leave anyone out.

Also, if other individuals are not looking to strip there wax, bring what you use. I would hate to put new stuff on and have it haze, been there done that...its ugly.

OK I have one small question about Sunday, can I feed my NFL adiction as well as get me car winterized? I am game either way, you had me at hot dogs.

Well, I have a huge TV and cable, and *I* won't be using it for the duration of the event, so...
