Mine became more clueless when I mentioned the Progman25 (sounds like a belgian industrial band) and now won't update unless I get some sort of OK from MINIUSA. Odd.

The problem is the dealers can't get reimbursed through warranty without approval from MINIUSA (written authorization or a PUMA case). They can still do an update but someone has to pay the technician.
Almost all MAs and most service writers don't know anything about which programming version the dealership is using. They don't have to. All dealers should have the current version (25). I just got word that version 26 is due out on 7/05/07.
As I stated earlier, our ASC,DSC "problems" aren't really considered problems by the rest of the world. Our MINI FSE (field service engineer) hadn't even heard about it. The only reason I know V25 cleared up the problem is because I tried it and it worked.
Be nice to your service departments and try to figure out a way to get the latest software. You may have to pay for now. Try bribing them with beer.

Is there any way to figure out what software version the car has? I've turned the ASC off before doing some nasty 'country' runs on some twisities and I've never had it come back on.

We put software version 26 into our car on Friday and ran it at the NEdiv autocross over the weekend. With two left-foot brakers behind the wheel, the DCS remained completely off during all of our runs. I think we finally beat it.
Be nice to your local dealer and get the latest software. (Try beer!)

Thats great! However, try left foot braking for several seconds with throttle applied. The throttle seems to cut off after 1-2 second or so, I think that is where some are thinking the DSC is kicking back on. I have learned to drive around it, but, ocassionally it catches me while on course at just the wrong time. After throttle cutoff, power takes approximately 1 second to kick back in it seems. Anyway, to end the wondering, anyone who wants to participate, go try applying throttle with brake application for 3-4 seconds while driving in a safe area and report back here. I know my throttle cuts out after 1-2 seconds of brake/throttle application, it is a huge annoyance and certainly not optimal for autocross. If there is a fix, watch out boys and girls, I'm going to throw a huge party. ;-)

Yep, In addition to the reengagement by hitting the rev-limiter in first, the problem that Craig is describing was happening to me on Saturday until I switched to RFB on my last run. Our courses down here don't have long enough sweepers to have made this happen.

And now that I'm replaying when I've felt that "WTF" feeling in my head, I seem to remember it happening on a few runs at Huntsville......

I'm not sure I can reprogram my left foot to not work in sweepers, so I'm considering just staying a RFB'er for this car. I've got my Saab 99 rally car to keep my left foot entertained.
