I had the last two months off due to conflicting summer events at our autocross site (only one is available and no track open).
Update to post #57 for season results so far.
I was out of practice and didn't drive as well as I would have liked.
Hopefully I can learn from my errors. I basically did well on the first half of the course but went too hard into a turn at halfway and got off balance after that and lost about 1/2 second that would have helped to gain me about 4 spots overall. I was 1.5 seconds behind the leader. Half that difference I think I could make up but didn't.
Next event is three weeks so hopefully I will apply more skill.
I did run the course in street tires and did it in about 2.6 seconds slower during fun runs.

Managed 2nd out of 8 in SM today, 16th out of 97 entries, losing to 300+ hp STI by .5 secs...
I never bothered to change the sway bar settings but next time I'll do it before hand. Too busy going to Lime Rock yesterday to find time.....

4th outta 8, same event as s-driver. Only one clean run, but the cone-yness was sloppy driving, not close driving. Wasn't happy with tire pressures either, still figuring them out. And I'm faaaairly certain my shocks are shot. :P
Impressive exhaust.
How about a set of matching custom Supertrapp "69" numbers?
Bet it sounds good too.
well if you have to know
Supertrapp
sound bite was from the 2003 Dragon Exhaust Shootout.
Sequence is Short rev, 3000 sustained, 6000 sustained.
Measured 118 db. so to fully enjoy turn the volume up to max.
Oh and yes i was the loudest at the Shootout

Thanks Mugami. Sounds vaguely familiar.
What is the rest of your exhaust system like? Cat(s)? Header? Pipe diameter? How many discs are you using in each trapp?
I'm using a Stahl system, with 3" cat. I replaced the Dynomax mufflers that come with this system for two Supertrapps. I've settled in on 6 discs each. Any less is notably quieter, but strangles the engine under high load. Any more gets loud enough to attract way too much attention to drive back and forth to work. I had the Magnaflow cat-back for 4.5 years. The current setup gives more power seat-of-the-pants (not just mine), droans less in cruise mode at 60mph, and has tons more burble. Except it's more of a crackle. Very hard edge to the sound, and much louder compared to the mellow Magnaflow burble. It's addictive.

rest of the system is stock. using the 2.25" split piping. I'm using a 4 x 4 set up for Autox and around town for increased torq. When i go drag racing i just loosen the nuts to let them rattle for increased top end. then close them back up for going home.
the Wing is the APR racing Low Drag wing made for the Hatch. I modded the mounts to fit better on the MINI

I went looking for the wing on the web site.. The one i got is no longer shown. this is the Aluminum center wing with optional side plates. the Clip mounting bracket are whats no longer there. I bought this a couple years ago used for 50.00. Painted the wing Flat black as well. Also I took the measurement off the wing and its only 45" wide where the website shows them at 55". The wing originally was to Fit an old Honda Hatchback.
Update made to post #57.
Not a bad day overall but I missed the chance to break into the top 3.
I had the chance.
I was about 0.35 seconds behind the leaders. Poised to strike but unable to exert the needed level of skill.

10 drivers in SM class this time. 4 runs each. I got the fastest 4 raw times in my class for the day but it was still way behind. I barely broke into the top 10 on PAX (for the first time this season out of three events).
The other cars (in order) in SM:
Honda Civic
Mini Cooper S
Subaru STi
Dodge Neon R/T
Subaru WRX
Nissan 240 SX
Scion tC
Mitsubishi Evo
Mitsubishi Evo 8
SM2 class had 13 drivers (8 miata, Honda S2000, BMW M3, MR2) and only one (240Z) beat me by 0.05 seconds

Yehaa!
1st out 3 entries in class (SM), revenge on the sti from last event.....
11th out of 88 drivers... sway bar set to softest setting
34.931 (+1)
32.633
32.684 sway bar in middle, not much change
32.952 air pressure drop, still not much change
33.651 back to softest setting, over drove it
, wrong route on slalom
Weird thing is my sti friend had a second driver and he ran the car in a different class (BSP).

After a successful Day#1 wasting a C5 Corvette in (Canadian class) A-Super Stock, Day#2 at Slalom@Slemon was a disaster for '06 MCS Competition Edition #62 when the engine torque exhibited under a hard right turn under heavy acceleration prevented a smooth shift from 1st gear into 2nd. My times were off by, I figure, 2-3 seconds per run (I ran an 88.1 sec but should have been in the high 85s/low 86s).
My advice? Get an engine torque damper like the LOTF, TSW, etc etc... and take on the E36 M3s...

Update to post #48
Added results from another event. That's two in a row co-driving other cars. I think I'm about ready to get back in my own.
I also got to drive a SM EVO as an instructor on Saturday at one of our two annual drivers' schools. Wicked fast car (on boost), but this one had an evil secret. One of the wheel speed sensors had failed and the ABS wasn't functioning. I asked the owner before the run if it had ABS, and he said "yes". The brakes felt really good in the first couple brief applications, so I came smoking into a garage and hammered the brakes at the last second like I would in my car. That's when "smoking" took on a whole new meaning. Locked up all four and left four nice long black stripes. My first thought was that the ABS had turned loose of the brakes, but right after that it became obvious that wasn't the case.
If you haven't done it before, competing in a strange car is a good way to challenge yourself. Most cars don't transition as well as ours, and forcing yourself to plan further ahead and adapt is good discipline. In this week's case, no ABS in the STS car on a course with 4 critical braking zones was an added challenge. I haven't taken a run without it in 5 years.
Plus if feels good when you beat the car owner by over 3 seconds on your first run.
