Granted, the MINI Cooper S is reasonably well placed in G-stock (for now?), but in the stock classes, the driver IS the deal.

"You M3 guys are killing us out here today" is usually what I am thinking in my street mod class each month. About a 2 to 3+ second lead over the nearest MCS

And
"You 240Z guys are killing us out here today" applies for overall standings.
About a 5 to 6+ second lead for any MINI.

 

Heck, I'd never get a trophy if I had to race my G-stock MCS against the H-stock Coopers (and one 15 year old Integra!) in my local region!

 

I've been saying something similar for years. When I was racing Scirocco's it was always the slightly newer and more powerful GTIs and Honda CRX Si's that were my nemesis. Then when I finally got a Miata (mid 93) I only had a few months until the more powerful 94's came out. Ouch again. There will always be someone in some car that is faster, especially if you are not a top notch driver (I am not). Heck, I used to get beat regularly by a guy in an old stock VW Fox!
