What is the best wheel and tire combo for rain for the Mini Cooper S?

Monza's(14lbs) with Azenis in 16X6.5 (probably 37lbs total)?

Motegi Trak Lite's(14lbs) in 17X7 45 offset with 225/40/17's probably 40lbs total)?

Any other suggestions?

Are azenis the best autocross tire for the rain?

Please, keep it a money is no object opinion since I love making myself miserable by spending my every last penny on fun items!!!

How about the 16x6.5 SSR Competition wheels at 11 lbs and $275 each with a set of Kumho V700's with full tread depth? That should have you plowing through the puddles!

I have also been told that I am well-off using my Hoosier RS03's on wet asphalt if there is no standing water, but my local track is on a slight incline and has excellent drainage so this might not be good advice for all surfaces.

My next set of tires will probably be the Falken Azenis on my OEM V-spokes.

I was hoping for some tires that I could drive with on the road on a regular basis. I guess maybe R-compounds are probably still better in the water than azenis. I guess that would make sense. Oh well.

In my opinion, the ideal situation is what I currently have. Start with two good sets of 16x6.5 wheels. Add one good set of R compounds on one set of wheels. On the other set, mount an ultra high performance tire with great rain traction.
When, and only when, the rain gets real deep, go to your street set.

I have Hoosiers on one set and Toyo T1-S on my street set. The Toyo is clearly a better deep water rain tire than most.

Of course, then you go to Atlanta in the pouring rain, and stay on your Hoosiers through the rivers...
