Solo What class for 2007 MCS with/without mods?
What class for 2007 MCS with/without mods?
I see many conflicting posts and SCCA sites regarding where my MINI should be placed. I want to run Novice for now, so I would imagine I would run NS. But after that, I see potentially that the R56 MCS should run in STX, but according to http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/List...stockc.html#DS an R56 MCS should run in DS.
Now if I were to run with a tune and a rear swaybar, I believe that would definitely place me in STX. If I were to run without them, is DS, correct?
I'm in the San Francisco Region, and plan to run in Oakland this weekend, I'm just trying to figure out how to have my car registered properly and run in the proper group.
Thanks!

D stock is correct and allows for you to use street tires but also stock wheels and R compound tires that will fit. This is a big advantage and gives you a good handicap for your class. Also you are stock so that works best.
STX is Street Touring and requires only street tires no R compound tires and it allows for more mods to suspension, brakes, intake, etc and worse handicap for the class.
You can run in either class depending on the level of competition you get.
You can even run in Street Modified F but will come up against highly modded front wheel drive cars. Still better than driving by yourself.

With the new rule change that just went into effect you can now run in stock class WITH an aftermarket rear sway bar.
best rule change ever.
I would start in stock class with just the sway bar and see how far you want to go.

I assume thats the 2012 rules, so I'd hold off on that rear sway til next year. But I went looking for that change on the SCCA site and couldn't find it. Do you have a link to something?
EDIT: I found this: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...k-nov-solo.pdf Which says you can change one or the other, but it says the change has simply been submitted to the BOD, not approved.
