STF (Street Touring FWD) Need help with alignment
Need help with alignment
Hi, I am going for alignment today and I was wondering if you can help me with what specs to go with. I want my setup for autox and street use. I have H&R RSS coilovers and 22mm swaybar. Thanks in advance.
Setting Rear Toe
I have a question specifically related to setting Rear Toe on an R50 Mini Cooper (May 2003 build date). The car is set up per STS rules with H Sport springs, 19 mm rear bar, and Megan Racing lower adjustable control arms.
Anyhow, I want my Rear Toe set at zero, but the actual alignment measurements are:
Left: 0.12
Right: -0.07
Total: 0.05
The alignment tech tells me that a special tool is required to set rear toe. However, I cannot find mention of said tool anywhere, and I would like to clarify this before I take it back to the shop.
My questions are:
Is there a special tool required to set rear toe?
If not, is there a trick to setting rear toe?
Does anyone have a shop reference for setting rear toe?
Thanks!!!

There is a plate up above where the rear swing arm mounts to the sub frame (just forward of the rear wheel its partialy covered by a plastic shield). Loosen the three bolts on the plate and adjust toe where you want it. No special tool required just a u-joint and extension with a socket (not sure what size).
There is an eccentric socket tool (BMW special tool 32 4 200) that makes it easier
to set rear toe, but it's not necessary, just a little more hit and miss without it
to get the setting where you want it.

As for the tool, I checked w/ my local Mini dealer parts guy, and he tells me that BMW does not make the tool. He tells me to check w/ Snap-On to see if they have it. My alignment tech checks w/ his Snap-On dealer, but no luck. I searched online for said tool and found something at Turner Motorsports (or some place like that) for a 3 series BMW, but they tell me it doesn't work for the Mini.
Anyhow, do you know a source for the toe tool 32 4 200?

The BMW part (doesn't fit the MINI) is 90 88 6 323 030.
