www.bigskyminis.org -- Montana Mini group

For Mini motorers in Montana, we have an informal group now:

www.bigskyminis.org

It's for organizing face-to-face get-togethers for us Mini owners in Montana.

http://www.bigskyminis.org/

Cheers,
Dan

Any fellow motorists from Montana still? I'm not living there yet, but most likely will be moving to Bozeman in the summer time. I'd love to MOTOR with anyone!

Billings,mt checking in

I am in Billings, I have counted at least 10 other MINIs here, but have only met one other driver at a local auto-x. It would be great to get some people together for a cruise or some other type of event.

You may have to re-establish a group or club

up there. I tried the Big Sky MINIs boards a few years ago, not much traffic then, none now.

Talk to Zyamfier right here in NAM. He has established a popular new club in Nebraska called C.O.R.N. Coopers of Rural Nebraska. We can get you some graphics too if you can pick a name and a pic you like.

Reach him here in NAM or see his threads.

I would love to but I work for a local Chevy dealership, service dept and summer is a busy time here. I kind of have to wait and see how June and July work out, money wise. We have only lived in the area alittle less than two years and have been looking for a reason to drive down to Colorado.

Starting out?

I would love to be able to start something here in Billings, but how do I go about getting other Members. I have been frequenting this site for several months and so far seem to be the only one from this area. I have thought of carrying some sort of flyer in the car and slapping it on the windshiel of any MINI I see. Any help from someone in areas with fewer MINIs would be great.

Again, talk to Jim (Zyamfier)

When he and I met 2 summers ago, I knew of no other MINIs in NE. He came here to pick up his vehicle, and he just became a member of MINI5280. Then, as he came across other MINIs in NE, he tagged them and the group grew 1 person at a time.

I can introduce you to another MINI owner in Billings, and he knows of others too. That is how it happens.

You may wish to respond to DAVE here in NAM as he will offer you a can't lose deal for hosting. That too gives you automagic forums and a place for all of you to talk online.

Further, you may wish to co-op with the folks in Wyoming and do a multi-state club or something.

Finally, last year our big event MITM MINIs in the Mountains (August 2006 at Copper Mountain Resort) attracted a number of WYOMING MINIs. I can put you in touch with them, at least that is a start. There may be some other MT or WY posters here who you can find.

It only takes 1, then 2, then 4, then 8, and next thing you know....

C.O.R.N. grows!!

If this is Dave M. then I did meet him at an Auto-x right after I bought the car. I sent a private message Zyamfier and am looking for some input from him. I see from the results on our local scca site that other MINI owners do show up so that will be good. Thanks for the help.

See there?

That is how it works. The guy I will have contact you is Michael in Billings. One more for the list.

I have business associates up there, and I can ask them if any of them insure pp with MINIs. (we are insurance folks). If so, they may be able to pass along a message.

Thanks,

JPS

I will just put in my 2 cents here, and say hi. There are numerous Minis here in the Great Falls vicinity, some of whom are active in auto X. Montana is a very large state, and if best thought of in regions. Billings would be considered "southern". Great Falls would be "central". (a couple hundred miles north of Billings) No organized Mini gatherings here that I am aware of, although a few of our racers do socialize occasionally. I would be thrilled to see a Mini chapter here. I have had a brief conversation with "reinmaster73".

Minis in MT

All right so far MontanMiniac this is a two person shindig, I am going to start working on some sort of card, business card, post card some thing along those lines that I can stick on peoples cars.

Side note: Man is it georgeous here, had to work all day and had the wash bay kids clean the MINI. I wanted to be out screwing around but had to sit and take care of other peoples cars.

Ringmaster73, I like your idea, if for nothing less than to test the waters here in Montana. Consider letting NAM. be the place owners contact you.(note Dave's post above) A NAM site would be a great place to collect, channel, and distribute information to those who reply. Please feel free to contact me when you have your info ready for distribution. Send me a copy, and I will duplicate it as needed, to help with the expense, and distribute it here as best I can. Hope this helps.
Oh, by the way, you got to be a little crazy to take this on, and for that, we thank you!

Just wanted to say "hi" and good luck on getting a club organized. I am origianlly from Billings but live in AZ now. I still get back to Billings several times a year as I have family living there. My wife is up there right now and calls to tell me she saw a white mini or a blue mini or three minis today. Seems like you never come across one up there a year or more ago.

Looks like there are quite a few of us in Montana! Good to know! We should try and do the Bear Tooth highway late this summer!

I was also going to work on some cards to put on MINIs I see around Bozeman. Who knows, maybe we'll get a few more people that way!

Looks like a club of 3

so far. Tag those others, get them to post and reveal themselves, the club grows...

As I noted

that site has been down for almost 2 years.

Sounds like we need a new ringmaster to lead that circus up there.

You LUCKY Dogs!

Wow! I grew up in Hamilton. MT is such a special place, but don't tell anyone else...Do you remember reasonable and purdent speed limits? We used to to see how fast we could make it from anywhere to anywhere. My 50 year old mother (in a '69 421 Gran Prix) once made it from Hamilton to Missoula (45 miles) in 23 minutes. I wish I still lived there, but at one time it was hard to make a living there. I need to MOTOR there.
Good luck with your club... The nearest dealer must be _________ ?

Sorry jsouz, I clearly missed that!

Tmitty - I remember the reasonable & prudent laws. Police around Bozeman typically used it to mean at their discretion. I used to time myself between Bozeman and Laurel on my way home to WY

My mom lives in Cody, WY and is thinking about buying a used MINI. Unfortuantely the nearest dealer is 293 miles away, I'd like to find someone who works on MINI's that is nearer to her. Please contact me if you know someone who does. Thanks!
