Rocky Mountain Speed Traps
I was thinking about starting a thread where we list places we know police like to patrol for speeders. Then I thought maybe it would just encourage improper behavior beyond speed. But I like to speed a little and would like the information, especially as it relates to camera vans.
I did see some other regional forums have broached the subject before. What's the opinion of the rest of the region on this one?

The AAA was formed as a means to assist motorers in various ways .... including alerting and informing the membership about speed traps; It is a time-honored tradition the we, as NorthAmericanMotorers and MINI owners, should be able to continue without feeling guilty about it ... alerting fellow motorers was one of the original reasons why drivers would flash at each other.
In England, the Auto Club had motorcycle-mounted roadside assistants that would salute club members (the reason for having a badge mounted to the grill) - if the guy on the bike didn't salute you as you motored past, that was the signal that there was trouble ahead (like a speed trap, so slow down!).

As there are no objections, let's start this party.
Per my father, C/E-470 on the south end of town is being patroled very heavily around 2:30-3:30 pm for one mile on either side of I-25.

I think this a good idea for a thread. I try the speedtrap site if I am on a long trip, but not for CO stuff.
In Ft Collins, camera traps have been spotted at -
Swallow, block west of RR crossing, opposite school
Taft Hill, in between Drake and Horsetooth, usually for north traffic, but I have seen both ways.
Opposite O'Dells brewery, next to Link 'n Greens golf course, mostly east bound
Overland trail near the stadium/drive inn, Sheriff usually, not photo radar.
Look out for the brown/bronze Chevy Blazer with the rear hatch up.

I got a nice picture of my MINI in Fort Collins going south on Lemay Avenue by the hospital. They seem to frequent this spot along with eastbound Prospect going up the hill from Edora Park.

At various times, the Highway Patrol has been known to hang out at the bottom of hills in their snazzy new pursuit Chevy Silverado trucks. They are unmarked and look in place parked outside of a dirt road.

The State Patrol uses that same snazzy car (often in tandem with a marked car with the speed gun) on Highway 128 east of Highway 93 (usually on that L-O-N-G hill west of McCaslin Blvd.).
"Let's be careful out there!"

Right. My mother got busted in there within the last year. Forgot all about it.
If you are headed out east via I-70, there's a bridge over an exit (either 352 or 354) a little before Limon that police have been known to lurk. It's blind to folks on the road, but they'll be able to nail you before you can see them.

Weld County Road #49 (between I-76 exit 34 and US 34, a great Greeley route--straight thru no lights) is being patrolled very heavy now by CSP and WCS. Watch it. Also I-76 between Pecos and 88th is getting a lot of radar shootin usage. Jimbo
