After doing a bit of research I found out that the mini uses a dual stage inflator module. So the plug behind the steering wheel should be good with a 3.3ohm resistor to prevent the airbag light to come on. However , there is a black plug as well which is used for a slower and minor crash situation. It activates the airbag by a fewer milliseconds to cause less injurys at low speeds.

It would be great if I had a tool where I could measure how much electricity is going threw the black plug so I would know which resistor I should put into that one. I will try to get a tool or just use 3.3ohms for both plugs and see if that works and report back to you folks.

Thanks alot for the info you guys have provided me. Especially you gnatster.

So, what kind of success did you have with the resistors? I am interested in putting a steering wheel on the car, and I really would like to have no air bag light.

I installed the resistors and made everything nice and clean but did not have time to reset it. I will sometime next week and let you know.

you know what's even easier? black electrical tape covering up the airbag light like everyone else does who doesn't want to hack up the system.... i did that 4 years ago when i pulled the factory seats and before then on my last car for CELs that wouldn't go off due to mods, its safer and can be reverted easier than "tricking the system".....

just a thought!

Yes but your airbag system does not work. Not really safe now is it.

wow.... have you seen my car? please don't infer that "having an airbag is safe" when you haven't race-prepped as many cars as i have! instead of waiting around to be hit by an airbag with stock seatbelts, tensioners, and seats that allow you to slide all over the place, i can't move in my car far enough to lean forward to mute my radar detector, positioned just under the rear view mirror.... can you reach that far in your car?

I'm surprised no one has made a mini specific racing wheel.
