Larger fuel tank
Larger fuel tank
Ok, this is a call for all the engineers (true or wanna-be) around here:
Let's make it simple: You want a larger fuel tank in your MINI, what do you do, where do you go. I know, a fuel cell would be "easy". May be that's why I don't want to do this. 60 litres required, 20% bigger minimum.
Send the ideas. Limited budget.
All yours!

You're hosed...
The reason I say that is I expect that you want it for racing, so you'll need a bladder system or something safe enough(maybe even open cell foam insides....). A couple of gas cans in the back plumbed with 1/4" ID gas line and duct tape ain't gonna do it.
I really think your only solutions is one of the companies that makes custom fuel cells. They can make a custome bladder to fit into what space is available.

Alain, what do the rules in your racing series state? I would imagine that you have few options, one being that the factory tank is OK if it's in front of the rear axel, and two, you would need an FIA or SFI certified fuel cell. I also know that more then one fuel tank in a car is OK, as long as only ONE is used.
I just went with an ATL myself. Only a small 12 gal, but I don't plan on doing to many endurance races.

How much fuel do you have left at the end of the 1 hour races?
we could try to do some numbers to find a pace that will get you to the 1.5 hours mark...unless you are on fumes after 1 hour..does Ian have to fuel for the 1.5 hour? I know Perry likely will and we probably (more than likely, we had 3/4 of a tank after the 1 hour race) don't.

I know I know!

Alain,
Being that you don't want to cut the floor and the rules in which you race, it seems that you are limited here. If you want to add a tank then it seems that the only location would be under the car behind the rear subframe. I don't have my ATL catalog handy (have 3 of them and can't find one), but I don't think they have a cell that flat. This would mean that you may have to have a custom one made.
You other choices would be to dump the factory tank and replace it with an FIA, SFI cell. It does seem by your rules that you don't need a contained cell, but could just get away with the hard plastic foam filled bladders. You should be able to fit a good sized one under there, but now you will have to re-think your exhaust routing.
You could also place a cell in the back of the car, but would have to build a bulkhead to separate that area from the rest of the cabin.
Do you have any thoughts?

BTW, what's happening with your car??? Should I assume that it's up in the air, based on your sig. picture??? (- Play nice....)
