Race 2 Sebring results
Race 2 Sebring results
Just completed my first event in the Phil Wicks NAMCC race series. The event was held at the historic Sebring track, 3.75 miles and still bumpy.
The race was run by N.A.S.A. which aloud the small field (only 4 Minis) of Phil Wicks series to run as a class along with the NASA racers.
This time it was my Mini-Madness #53 DM prepared Mini to take the lead in qualifying as well as the race. I qualified on pole for class & 7th on grid out of 28 cars with Randy Webb in 8th with a lap time 1sec slower.
The cars ahead of us consisted of a 997 GT-3, a RSR Brumos 911, a CM E-36 M3 and a 914 (6cyl) and a 996 gt-3. The start was good and clean however I was up to 4th over all going into turn one. Randy was following about 5 to six car lengths until he tried to take an inside line into turn 16 which I closed the door on, he then dropped an anchor and pitted with electrical problems.
he was able to get back out lost at least two laps.
Waylen & Bryan were the only other two Minis, both without any other Minis to compete with, both finished down in the field but had a great time.
We need more competitive Minis to join this series, get busy guys!
Guess I will have to make the rest of the series now, My crew Jason Aranha & Brian Normand did a great job getting the car ready for this weekend.
Will have photos and in-car videos to publish soon.
We had great time, Phil & Norree had very nice dinner set up at the hotel for all (50 or more DE Minis) plus us racers. Pete Taylor was very helpfull in organizing the race and sharing racing tips with everyone.
Well, wish I had photos but unfortunately, my camera went back to Baton Rouge in the trailer...will have to wait till next friday.
Regards to all,
Steve Diniz

Congrats Paulo! So, is your car really Madness equipped? What class do you run in? I am no expert, but I didn't think there were any that allowed significant mods, like a head port, IC, and reduction pulley, for instance. So, do you have other Madness parts? If you're not running a reduction pulley, etc., then that's pretty freakin amazing that you were outrunning the Webb car! Either way, sweet stuff, man. Wish I coulda been out to see it!
Steve was pretty much running everything from us and is one of our sponsored drivers,
Diniz custom air intake
Madness Big valve head with port matched manifold
Schrick Cam
Madness lightweight 15% supercharger pulley
Madness 380cc fuel injectors
Factory 05 crank pulley
Evotech race software
Madness Water to Air Intercooler
Madness oil cooler
Madness poly bushings
Madness V2 header with race pipe
Diniz custom exhaust
Flywheel, clutch, LSD
Wilwood BBK custom race kit
15 BBS wheels
Leada/Madness race coilover system
Madness 22mm rear sway bar
Madness rear control arms and camber plates

I might have missed a couple things but this is the general spec.

Great job guys, sounds like you all had fun.
I am sorry I missed the event, but that's a long tow from CO.
So if I am correct that means Brian and Walen are leading the points race. Both with 2 - 1st place finishes.
I will be in St Louis in June. See everyone then.

I was in Sebring for the Phil Wicks Driving Academy and race. Small field, but still fun to watch. I talked with Randy Webb after the race and he told me that just as he was coming up on Steve on the inside, his left foot kicked his fuel pump relay and killed the engine. By the time they pitted and figured out what happened, he had lost a couple laps.

They need to get the official results from each event as well as the overall series results on the Phil Wicks web page.
Any news on Waylen of Way Motor Works? I just love the flourescent green accents on his MINI.
What about some one in class 1 or class 2?

I guess these Green relays are really in the way. Lesson to be learn (Greg, take notice!): To all of you racers without a kick-panel: Cover your fuse box!!!
