Just checkin up on ya man. Are you out'a the Mini?
The MINI is going to go up for sale after SEMA. CravenSpeed wants to show off some products... So if anyone is interested, let me know .

I still am going to look into karting as a motorsport release. I can't stop once I have started. Too damn addictive. Its unfortunate that the kind of auto racing I would like to do seems so far out of my league (dollar wise) right now.

Little bit of a setback today. Would have been first road test but had some clutch issues. Oh well, .... ... good practice on just waht it takes to remove the motor/drivetrain now. Looks like with some practice it takes about 40 min by myself. I'd say 20 with two.
Hope to have it out to test tomorrow, but still not sure what is causing the problems.

Is the clutch dragging? If so, I can shed some light on the problem.. Send me a PM.

Randy, Slave won't depress pressure plate to release clutch plate. Thought I might have put the clutch plate in backwards, which I see I may have done, but after looking at it, I don't see how that would have effected this. Could the factory slave not be sufficient?

To me this looks like enough travel, but apparently not... ??

Will upgrade to a 3/4" bore master rather then the 5/8" that I'm using now.

We couldn't find a replacement slave in the aftermarket that fit . . . I sent you a PM.

Help me get a better understanding about the clutch travel problem with some more details please. The slave plunger can only move so far before the clutch release arm is at the end of its arc, at that point the slave piston shaft will no longer have leverage and that’s a good thing because the release bearing would come off the release fork’s tines if the release shaft rotated over 70 degrees. It would seem that an overmatch of master volume would help effort but as long as it is at least equal then travel should be the same. Have you measured the depth of the clutch and flywheel combo at the pressure plate release fingers to be sure it is not too shallow?

I'm using a Quartermaster clutch/flywheel. I'll call them tomorrow
Greg:

In theory, the volume of the master cylinder should make no difference. Neither should the type or brand of pedals used. If the slave cylinder needs 2 oz of fluid to fully deploy (example only, I have no idea how much), then it should make no difference how big the master cylinder is. In fact, too much fluid could cause a hard pedal if there is no place for the fluid to go . . .or, it could blow out the seal on the slave. (blown seals ARE a problem on the slaves. We carry 4 spare slaves!).

Before you go to more trouble and expense, check ALL the measurements of the new clutch AND the flywheel. Your problem sounds like something is mismatched. You know my story . . . remember it took two transmissions for me before I figured out what was wrong!

If you still have your stock flywheel and clutch . . . mate them up and compare.

Forgive me if I'm incorrect about the master/slave arrangement but wouldn't a larger master cylinder flow more fluid, thus causing a heavier pedal (less hydraulic advantage) as well as need less pedal travel to fully compress the slave? Moreover, as long as the travel is the same between the OEM clutch/flywheel setup and the new one (and within the adjustment range of the slave), there should be no difference in pedal travel.

Onasled, when you made your own pedal box, did you keep the pedal ratio's from the stock setup or change them? Is there a possibility that you're not getting as much pedal travel as you need? In this case, a larger master cylinder might do the trick as long as you don't go too big and blow the slave like Randy mentioned.

Good points . . . Greg's video shows the slave travel and it looks like it's at its limits (Onasled needs to verify). If so, the problem would seem to be at the pressure plate / clutch.
