Team Octane announces Pirelli World Challenge participation
(Montréal, Québec, Canada) – Team Octane, based in Montréal, Canada has announced today that they will enter the SCCA World Challenge event on July 12-14 at Exhibition Place in Toronto. The team will campaign the #47 in the TC class.
“The MINI Cooper isa fantastic platform to race and we are proud to continue MINI’s strongheritage in Motorsport by venturing into this new project”, announced Teamowner and driver Alain Lauzière.
The team intends to honor John Cooper’s legacy by enteringthe John Cooper Works variant of the MINI Cooper in the TC class. “We know thatthe TC field is ultra-competitive and we respect that the level of preparationof the front-running teams is second to none. As such, our ambitions are modestas we only want to use this event as a basis to evaluate the competitiveness ofour race car against the rest of the field. We are starting with a large power-gap to thefront running cars in race trim, but the MINI Cooper JCW has been known tocreate a few upsets in the past so you never know what can happen! Whatever theresults, we know we’ll have more fun as we drive the only MINI in class” commented Lauzière.
Team partners include, MINI GENUINE PARTS in Canada,Castrol, LDS Dyno, Bully Clutch, Revolution MINI Works, Perry Auto, CarrosserieTouchette, La Clinique du Pneu Granby, Lettrage Raoul, ASG Accessoire deSoudure Granby, SoCal Sport Cars, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes andCarbotech Brakes.
Team Octane normally competes in the Canadian TouringChampionship with great success and campaigns four full-time JCW MINI Cooper Sin the Touring class and one B-Spec Cooper occasionally.
