How about something Socal? Big Willow, SOW, Buttonwillow or ACS....
Hey wait a sec, just realised I own a track record at both VIR and Road Atlanta for a space blue R53 running REO1r's with a 15% pulley, JCW intake, Milltek exhaust, TSW springs, IE camber plates, 19mm sway bar, Jan tune (and get this) JCW floor mats with me driving!!!!

PS: Just wait, I'm going to smash both of those records in 2010 and set a few more at a track near you!!

what happened to the "enough talking part"?
answer this question.........how were you only able to run 1:33 in a R53 with
head, tune ,coilovers, brakes etc and able to run 1:27 in the JCW with less performance parts?

Please read above....
You really want to race in Norcal when we live in Socal, are you really being this difficult? Bob Sheer drove his R53 not me. Ive never been on a track with a R53.
DezCW, welcome to the wonderfull world of NAM, hope you enjoy your stay as its very entertaining at times.
So the question is are you a PRO driver or just a very good driver, what is your vehicle / racing background.

Guess you should do your homework before claiming a record:

Flannery in his GP at the top of the list with a 1:27.653

roflmao
don't worry Ill post up some benchmarks when appropriate
ok.... so NOW you have PROOF that a simple head on a R53 is faster than your beloved R56........... tell us how you feel now Paul?
stock pulley
stock cam
stock intercooler
stock brakes blah blah blah.............
oops...234 HUB HP too with 187tq
so I ask you again Paul.......what do you think Danny's with his HP in a capable drivers hands will do?
that's 67 more hp and 30ish more tq to come out of the corners with and accelerate down the straight aways

Its intresting that you have to change the head to just be a couple inches in front of the JCW R56 at the finish line
I'm not sure what Danny's would do, Are you saying Danny's not a very good driver? If Danny posted a video up I'm sure Ian could tell us roughly what is left in it.
It is strange that he has got 67 more hp and 30 ish more trq than Sean but cant keep up or better Seans time, just shows maybe lessons are more important than HP.
So TMR and Paul tell Jan to grow up and now start whining and making excuses when they find out they don't have the record, here comes the hypocrisy again. If your going to dish it out, be man enough to take it.
Best post of the year, video of someone winning a time attack event VS someone multiple track records and a national championship. I think I've seen it all now.
P.S. Flannery doesn't always run with a transponder. I'm looking forward to making sure he has one on the car and telling him the time counts, you might be surprised.

Myself and Ian have discussed this one before great acheivement for the Mini guys thats for sure.
I'm glad this thread has spurred him to come back out, after all if there wasn;t any competition we would still be running slow, well some of you lot would
So we had to take it as a 1.27.999 as we had nothing else to go on, now we do which was the whole point of this thread to get some facts on the table.
Still waiting for the confirmation of Sean's 1.26 and your 1.27s
We're compiling a World league table on MT
Speaking of Ian and records... Jan is it true that the motor Ian set a in class NASA track record with at Road Atlanta and won the NASA National Championship with was basically a junk yard motor with your stuff bolted to it?
Ok.... so what have we all learned today?
Paul learned that he should just keep his mouth shut. I told you from the start you didn't have a record,( how do you know I don't have the other times sitting somewhere ready to spring on you?)
For the second part about money spent... let's see here............
R53
RMW Head $2k
injectors $325
tune $350
H&R coilovers $800 (we all know these are barely better than springs)
total price= $3475
R56 JCW
intercooler normally about $750-800 but custom? easily over $1k in fab time etc....
K+N air cleaner =$260
OS GIKEN LSD= $1590
OS GIKEN CLUTCH $1590
custom tune $600
springs = minimum of $400
my guess there are swaybars on it too but it really doesn't matter you have already spent more than Flanery did to go slower.............
SO EVEN ON THE LOW END OF THE SCALE YOU SPENT $5190 to GO SLOWER PAUL....... still feel good about that R56?
all this done on 234 HUB HORSEPOWER and 187 HUB TORQUE
we have come so much farther in tuning and prep since then Paul.....
I get a kick out of you trying to justify horsepower and times Danny and myself have done. Danny and I have less track time in our lives than your pro driver does in 2009 alone........ROFLMAO........ This just shows how little you really know about road racing.... but keep it coming.....
it's going to be so much sweeter when I post up the real times
The best part of this is you guys calling up OS GIKEN to brag about your "record" time..............ROFLMAO>...............whoops:no :

Yup you have come a long way since then Jan you and Danny have spent loads more money.........
Its quite nice to see that 234 hub horsepower = the 205 whp similar lap times
Of course its a record time Jan, think about it.......................
So it ended up doing the times below and 25k in 2 years for a total of 75k miles covered.
Hey Paul good to meet you Ive heard good things about you. As for experience my dad my the president of PCA LA for a few years and I grew up around building Porsche's and racing them. Started with Karts and then auto-x and then worked with Ford on the Focus and ZX2 programs they had in the late 90's, after they cancelled the program in 2000 I went to another profession for 9 years and now Im back full time racing. I have a 08 Subaru STI 500+hp that I race Redline Time Attack in. Im just really happy to be working with ABF and running the Mini's. Track wise I have driven all west coast tracks except for Miller. Would I say Im pro NO, just gifted.
yes but we have people on this site that think it's impossible
I just will wait my time and show our cards when it matters......
we will let the peanut gallery speculate all they want
fact is: You have no record. Fact is: RMW and Ian have real sanctioned track records and a National Championship.

Paul, How NASA does it is they rate the car based off HP or Tq whichever is higher. I'm sure that car is in the 230tq range. NASA found classing cars off HP that some people would show up with tons of tq and tall gearing and run in a really low hp class. The problem with Time attack is they have this extremely open rule set. For FWD Street class you'd be crazy to start with ANY car other then a late 80's early 90's civic. Put a K24 with a Blower in it. Make 400hp and be less then 2000lbs WITH DRIVER (I happen to know someone building one of those, but it's going to run on Ethanol and run in the One Lap Of America). I'd find it really funny if manufactures got involved in Time Attack and started doing with they do in other forms of racing by building purpose built race cars but building just enough street examples that it's legal in the series. That would push the price of competetiveness beyond that of any tuner shop or individual.
Also as far as drivers. As we all know drivers can vary greatly. Some from car to car. I co-drive a lot with someone here who's a respected quick driver. On the same day depending on the car the difference between us can be as little as 2-3 seconds to as much as 14-18 seconds.

Even the Honda guys laugh at him.
Folks, you've been toeing the line from the beginning on this thread, and the personal attacks and disrespect need to stop. If you can't act with more tact and respect, this thread will be locked.

Yes I do post a bit on IWSTI! We are just happy with the time we ran, cant wait till we get the suspension dialed in(and more suspension)!lol
We spun a rod bearing in our motor when it was Stock with a pulley on it's 2nd visit to sebring (august 07). Having virtually zero budget for the shop car we sourced a motor that had low miles but had been locked due to water intake and had bent rods. Our crank was pretty bad but we had 3 good rods. The Motor we found had only a couple bent rods, so we did some mixing and matching of good parts and that's what our motor was/is. Thanks to good parts, good tuning, and really thick oil it held together the whole season.
