Performance Exhaust?

I want to add a simple and cheap bolt on performnace exhaust to my 14 paceman. Not looking to pay too much. Just want it louder/throatier. Would a simple performance muffler do the trick? Any info would be appreciated.

If its anything like the countryman, have the 2nd cat and res removed. Way cheaper then any bolton solution. The cheapest bolt on would be a megan cat-back, and even then it still involves some cutting\welding (depends how you want to install it). In reality there is no "bolton" without cutting.

Yes, remove 2nd cat and resonator. Cost me $100 @ an exhaust shop and it sounds great. After a couple weeks it got a little deeper sound. Aftermarket exhaust is way over priced and won't give any benefit over this simple mod if you are only buying cat back anyway.

the welds between the dp/flex pipe, flex pipe/2nd cat and 2nd cat/resonator are terrible

i have seen photos of them being as small as 1-7/8 id from the pipe size of 2-1/4 ... mine were right at 2 inch

i installed a milltek dp back system that eliminated everything from the dp back and picked up 5 car lengths over an identical all4 to mine in a 3rd gear rollon from 1500-4500 rpm

if you do not eliminate the restrictions of the oem welds all you will get is noise

Is the sound excessive and a nuisance to the neighbors? How about droning? I want to improve the sound but not at the expense of my neighbors.

My bad I wasn't clear, I meant the sound with the cat 2 and res removed. Also, a muffler shop just told me it was illegal to remove the cat. That may be a state by state deal.
