I've been looking at doing the same thing and I've found that there's loads more info on the CM section and I am pretty sure we share the same stock exhaust.

However, if anyone can chime in on more info, that would be very helpful.

I ordered 3.5" tip from a local shop, the suppler sent 4" tips. They installed the 4" and the fit was fine through Paceman S bumper, but I didn't feel they looked credable on the vehicle (a little too much of rice burner look for my taste ) so I had the shop swipe them out for the 3.5" I originally wanted.

I used dual wall rolled stainless 2.25 going in.

So 2.25 on the "front side", stock pipe going in to the tip?

Welded or clamped?

The pipe coming out of the muffler is 2”, the shop had to use an expansion tool to get a good snug slipover fit to the 2.25 front side (going in) on the new tips then welded them.

The OEM tips are welded (unlike the R56S) and will need to be cut off, the tip length I used was 7” because too short exposes the muffler pipe and too long gets into the 90 degrees pipe curve to the muffler and doesn’t work.

Tip size:
2.25” Inlet
3.5 to 4” outlet (both are after market performance exhaust tip sizes)
7” Length

Link to tip style I used:

I got the same tips from my local shop but powder coated satin black. Same procedure, cut the old ones and weld the new ones with an intermediate ring to cover the 2” to 2.25” (they told me 2.25" but I think they are 2.5"). I do like the 3.5” out more than the 4” out, come on it is not a V8.

My shop guy did not do the best weld job, but it is solid and I spray a bit of matt black heat paint on the weld when I got home.

3 months on now and I love it. Last weekend I notice I lost a bit of color on the inside of one of the pipes but solved it with low gloss engine paint and it looks even better now.

You need to go for it, I hate the stock tinny tips, I did notice my local shop had several different options in tips...

I kind of like the Blue ones,

Thanks mvice!

That's all I needed... This will be an option of I don't go for full exhaust swap. I hate puny OEM tips as well...

Project done!

Got the pair of JDM 3.5 chrome tips from tuner shop in Ottawa (by eBay) for $50 and free shipping... Check!

Inlet side was 2.5. Muffler shop fabricated reducer from 2.5" to 2" ( stock pipe) and welded all together for $100....Check!

Now, rear end of redBARON looks proper without those puny tips.

Next project: replacing 2nd cat/resonator with Magnaflow "tube" as folks in Countryman section...

Hay guys your tips look great, I'm thinking about removing the 2nd cat and resonator also with a magnaflow glass pack style replacement. I'm wanting a sound somewhere between stock and no resonator, but haven't figured out what to use to achieve that.

That is my next step. It is this one:

Again, following the trials and errors from folks over at Countryman Forum
