Recently experienced that during heavy acceleration or load the transmission will pull itself out of 6th gear and 6th gear only. When I take off my foot of the accelerator and pull back of the shifter it feels like the gears tighten back up and then I'm good to go. If I keep my hand pulling back on the shifter the car will be fine. None of the other gears are affected yet. Because I don't have a trusty reliable mechanic I'm in the process trying to find one. One indicated that it possible be the syncros which I am more inclined to believe. The other mechanic thinks it could be the linkage and mentioned something about a bushing breaking. Can linkage by smooth for shifting but actually under load just start pulling the whole car out of gear ? I would love to hear someone else's opinion. I've never had a problem with linkage, but my assumption is that if it was linkage I would be experiencing other symptoms then just one gear. Thanks to all who respond.
