My 2014 S all 4 went through a heavy rain storm and the windows and turn signals stopped working. My mechanic who does work on minis and has been in business for 40 years said it was the body control module and a known issue for minis with a sunroof because the drain allows the body control module to get wet. While he can get the part he said only a bmw or mini dealer can program it so I need to take it to a dealer at a total cost of $1100-$1200. There is a recall for this issue for many years and models but when I enter my vin on the website it says there is no current recalls for my mini. Shouldn't this be covered by mini or do I have to just pony up for the fix even tho its a factory design defect?

 

Some of them were part of a warranty extension. Some fall under that warranty and some dont if entered under that MINI recall site. I would need the last 7 digits of your vin to see what one you need.

Down the road if they do extend it to your MINI, then they send letters out and you can get reimbursement, I did this with my power steering pump. So save your receipts.
