Help! Been searching for a while and can't seem to find this part. Not sure what to call it: the balance shaft / eccentric shaft / VANOS cam cap for the little cam next to the intake cam on the newer N18 engine. Just need the last cap, the one closest to the transmission (circled in red). I think it is from 11-16 model years, as the 07-12 ones use a slightly different style. Anyone have any ideas?

Best I can figure, it comes as part of the cylinder head assembly so there is no buying it separately from MINI. Hoping somebody has a spare lying around that I could buy or knows of someway to get one that doesn't involve purchasing an entire used head.

 

The reason Mini doesn't sell them separately is because the inside surfaces where the shaft rides are honed when the cap is installed in the head. This makes the cap and head a matching set of parts that are not interchangeable with another cap/head.
If you source a used cap from a scrap yard, you might get lucky and the parts is close enough of a match to work fine. Or you might get unlucky and cause catastrophic failure.

 

New head is what i would do. Yes not on their own. WE just have new.

We have aftermarket from AMC for N14 but not for N18 yet.
