Hey, lucky you.
Here's a youtube video showing the steps for this fix. You'll probably want to change out the water pump for the upgraded metal version while you're in there.
I just had these two fixes done last month. I was going to attempt it DIY, but after looking at the extensive steps required in the video just to get to the gasket, I decided to let the dealer do it. It's expensive. Very expensive ($2k). Basically all labor for a 50cent part. But, peace of mind for this one-time fix having the dealer do it and warranty the work. Had them do the housing gasket, oil line, and water pump, and serp belt while everything was apart. Plus I got a loaner for a couple days. Sometimes throwing in the towel before you tear everything apart is less stress, despite the cost. YMMV.
Good luck with the repair, it's as inevitable with these cars as death and taxes.

That video is helpful but not an R60. I also have an oil leak near the down pipe on my Countryman and have the same question -- is there a guide on putting the R60 into service mode? All I can find is this but it's incomplete information and the provided link is dead: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...vice-mode.html.
Any additional info specific to the R60 would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am in the process of changing the turbo on my R60. Since I can't find any info online, I am basically pulling parts off the front end until I can get my hands on the bolts for the downpipe and exhaust manifold. I have read that some have replaced the turbo without going into service mode but I can't figure out how. There just isn't enough room that I can see.
