Rattling sound from rear end. Cooling fan.

Hey guys,

I’m new to the forum and mini coopers. I recently picked up a 2012 countryman S All 4 and ran into some issues. The check engine light came on after a 2 hour drive but nothing seemed wrong with the car. But when I turned it off, the fan continued to run for about 10 min afterwards. Is that normal? That’s the first concern.

The second concern is when I get on the power during a right hand turn, it sounds like something either with the differential or driveshafts is rattling or rubbing against something. Is this also normal?

For the fan run-on, check your coolant level. It may be that simple or it maybe that your thermostat needs replacing. As for #2 - no.
