Problems with the new turbo

I recently blew my turbo and had a new one installed that was supposed to be the exact same. My question is that the car no longer wheel spins when using sport mode. I have an RPM stage 2 tune that I had mapped to sport mode and I always had wheel spin with my old turbo but none with this one. Do new turbos have a break in period or something along those lines? I’ve drove probably less then 100 miles since the new turbo was installed.
The car also sometimes when boosting sounds like it gets stuck. I’m not sure how to describe it other then that. Instead of the smooth sound as it is accelerating it sounds like a broken record repeating the same sound and letting off the accelerator fixes it. All the connecting hoses that go with the turbo were changed at the same time as well.

So I got a boost gauge and I’m making 18 lbs of boost. Could it have been previously over boosting from the faulty turbo.

If I’m not mistaken rpm stage 2 tune you should be seeing around 20 psi, you might have a small boost leak somewhere.

Is the “new” turbo remanufactured or an eBay turbo? If it’s a cheap replacement, could be that the new one is faulty... There shouldn’t be a break in period with a new turbo.

"borshwargner " ??? Do you mean your mechanic installed a Bosch Wagner turbo kit?

RPM tune usually has boost by gear meaning it doesn’t call for full boost on every gear so you optimize traction. Pretune the ecu calls for full boost at WOT no matter what gear you’re at. That’s probably why you don’t wheel spin as easily. Check with your tuner to make sure.

Yes sorry I didn’t feel like checking on the spelling but yeah that’s the one. And it has the same tune as it did before literally the only thing that has changed is the turbo itself. But the car has been hitting 22 psi in sport mode so I’m keeping it out and having it reflashed back to stock.

Man I’m pretty sure you are good on the tune and those are the right numbers. Reach out to Mario kart here on NAM. He is the man when it comes to RPM tunes.

Well would there be another reason for blowing turbos? Because my mechanic thinks the brand new one we did friday is blown already
