Yesterday my drive to work started with my front passenger door open warning light flashing on and off (2012 R60). After some research on here and any other forum I can find I think it's a bad connection to the latch or a faulty/worn latch. I'm relatively handy with minor repairs (replaced speakers in my wife's Forrester) and the project doesn't scare me too much. Only worried about not finding a step by step removal procedure for an R60.

If it is a worn latch, is there a way to bypass the warning until I can replace? The dinging is starting to affect my worldview.

Has anyone had this issue and can give me some ideas on what to look for when I start pulling apart the door panel to fix? Any pitfalls you ran into when trying to fix? Should I just take it to the dealer and pay?
