Odd "rattle"

Odd "rattle"
'14 Countryman S All4, manual
~50k miles
2nd owner - only known history (via CarFax) includes clutch replacement
I have an odd vibration or rattle that occurs around 4000 RPM... But only if I'm rapidly accelerating. The noise comes from the passenger side of the engine (chain?). If I accelerate lightly or even moderately I can rev to 6000 without the noise but if I wail on it then I get the rattle. Past 4500-5000 the vibration dissipates.
At first I was thinking it was a harmonic vibration but after discovering it is acceleration rate dependent I'm searching for other answers.
From a maintenance perspective, I've only owned the car a couple months and don't have much history to work from. I do know the accessory belt is pretty worn but I can't imagine that would cause the problem. Could a slapping chain account for the noise? Wouldn't the slap be present all the time at the higher RPMs?
